  1. Thank you Piers, Is the subject of Kinno-to sensitive in any way in Japan? Kind regards, Eric
  2. Very nice, very well done ! Kind regards, Eric
  3. Hello Mustafa, I have an original kandao, and a nihonto of the same time area... nothing to compare in steel quality or craftmanship. Best regards, Eric
  4. Thank you for the answer, I though my post had been drawned by the sand... I asked after Kinnoto for a very long and straight shinshinto sword with a very long and suriage nakago that I'd posted here some time ago (in translation section). Any time I used the word Kinnoto I had a very strange look back... like if I was saying something unappropriated and "No answer" just changing topic. Kind regards, Eric
  5. Good sword with shirasaya and decent koshirae, meï seems quite fine... You would probably want to have papers.
  6. The shape of the Shinshinto Masakuni sword spotted by Jacques is very close. By the way, anytime I'd mention "patriotic blades" (Kinnoto if I am right?) In Japan, I've got a strange reaction back from the nihonto community. Is that because it is irrelevant? Rude? Or just politicaly touchy? Did you had such experiences? Kind regards, Eric
  7. Waow! Hope to see it some day! Kind regards, Eric
  8. I agree with Alex, Shape is good and fit with koto or Sue koto bizen. The chizeling is not very deep and you should expect one line meï cut by the suriage... seems done later. Nice sword! Congratulations... Kind regards, Eric
  9. 27'' is not zatoïchi ....very straight sory, kabun shinto or momoyama tensho seems and educated guess
  10. Without that last post, I would think at a zatoïchi blade. (Hided in a march stick of course!)...
  11. That is my feeling too, sorry for the bad news...
  12. Seems to have been acid etched to me... a pity. I saw leather covered saya by the past, but never with Tokyo writen in romanji, very unusual... Regards Eric
  13. Bonjour Vincent, I think the stamp place is uper just under the habaki, there is a like "rust hole"... I see a star when I close up. Honestly, my first blade was not as good as this one, so just feel happy with it. The blade seem tired but overall healthy. Kind regards, Eric
  14. When their arms are painfully tired they say: too heavy !
  15. To answer to the topic... I will! I had in hand a fabulous sword, I was sure it was Kanemoto, ...and the meï was kanemoto judged gimeï. It it wasn't for the Kiyomitsu, I would have buy it. By the way, I really like your tanto. beautifull bright hada... Don't feel shinshinto to me...but who knows. Kindly Eric
  16. Beautyfull tea cup and translation! You are a poet... Kindly, Eric
  17. Well done! Very smart move. Congratulations ! Hope you'll put some pictures in natural light!
  18. Very interesting shape and nice old original koshirae. Congratulations...
  19. The quench was given by the mune, alternatively dipping in and out at a rythm... I didn't knew that... The clay patern is like strongly attenuated when turning to hamon, so it is very difficult to have sharp waves. I'll put some pictures back home....
  20. I spent some time doing knifes and kogatana with a smith in Japan. It's fast but not easy at all. There are some tips that really impressed me, one was about the way you quench it ... Not at all as I had imagine.
  21. 😇 looks a little mino sanbon hamon... The meï is Kanemoto? a clear hamon patern is difficult to get on a kogatana (I've tried) so this one is well made... Best regards, Eric
  22. Very nice sword, you are at the right place. Can we have a global picture of the blade? Best regards, Eric VD
  23. I remember 25 years ago I've read on Karate-Bushido (similar to black belt but french magazine) that a high ranck master of martial arts realised a Tameshigiri on a old original Kabuto with a koto sword ! He was physicaly and mentally a beast... not a compliment in my mind. I felt disgusted ! Best regards, Eric VD
  24. Maybe for a Tanto Koshirae? I am searching one by the way... Best regards, Eric VD
