  5. I saw this for sale here: https://www.antiques.co.uk/antique/Japanese-Illustrated-Text-on-Samurai-Armor-and-Equipment thought the information inside was worth preserving and maybe of interest to someone
  6. Navy Tocho below but you never know what post processing has been done on the photo. throw it in photoshop and make it pop a little and the colour will be wildly different. even take it with a phone and adjust the colour a bit to make it look "cleaner" will adjust the colour
  7. Apologies Thomas, I didn't see this The colour is a very very dark brown almost to the point of black. the serial number does match yes, it's very obscured though, i've taken a quick picture for you as best I can.
  8. I think the second Kanji means cut?

  11. Cheers Grey, it will have it's mekugi asap, am i right in saying one of the seppa is missing?
  12. I recently Bought this with the blade unseen, only the Mei and a picture of the Saya. The blade is in ok condition - still very sharp There's no mekugi The Mei is signed - 片岡国廣 - Kataoka Kunihiro (thank you to SteveM for the translation) The Tsuka wrap has a few pieces of what looks like cotton pushed in to keep it tight im guessing I like the style of the Mei Seems like one Seppa is missing - the Tsuba is a touch loose either due to this or the lack of Mekugi Matching numbers except on one of the seppa Leather Saya is in Poor condition at one end with the metal exposed - I like it, it gives it character What would people's recommendations be on caring for the leather so it doesn't degrade any further. All comments welcome, flaws and things I may have missed Anyway, Happy with my purchase as the price was very good
  13. The blade is in good condition and has quite a nice midare hamon on it, if a little faint. I'll take some better pictures a bit later but here are a few of the blade
  14. Thanks, I shall avoid the sites for the time being. Best Regards Tony
  15. I've been looking at a few items for sale in Japan using buyee and jauce. every item seems to be prohibited for sale I'm guessing this is due to the export paper work of these items. does anyone have any tips on buying from these sites? I'm in the UK and traditionally made swords are legal for import (only traditionally made swords though) any Information would be useful Tony
  16. Thank you Grey, I shall check out the Jim Dawson Book once I've been through the Fuller & Gregory. Tony
  17. What is a reasonable price to pay for this book? I got a copy for £50 and am happy at that price but i see it selling for crazy amounts (more than one gunto i bought....) Tony
  18. obviously once i have it in hand i will post new pictures (and numbers if any) for you
  19. Was wondering what the translation on the tang is for this one, I've not seen the blade on this as I bought it unseen or I would share pictures of the whole thing. Cheers! Tony
