That one is really beautiful. Pricey though
-
Oh that's very nice. I like that
-
Post up some pictures of the sword and we can help you out

Well an update I spoke to Paul Martin recently about having the sword polished by Abe Kazunori but currently he is not facilitating polishing or papering at the moment due to covid. So I will wait a little while for that. In February I have a few people from To-Ken GB taking a look so I will know more. I'm hoping a more seasoned eye will be able to confirm the boshi. From what I believe I see it is shallow and has no turn back. Extending to the end of the blade Just a quick update for you all

Cheers all, I will just leave it as is, thanks for the help and comments.
-
Very nice, simple and elegant, the three tiers is interesting, I've not seen that before.
-
Thanks for all the replies. Yes the stain is embedded into the steel and I'd rather leave it I think. They all have their quirks. I did consider uchiko but I think I'll leave it in its roughly found state. Cheers again!

Probably not going to got that far. Unless it's something simple I'll just be leaving it as is. Just wasn't sure what it was and thought maybe someone had seen similar

This is from a sword I posted recently. It has some kind of staining on it. Looks chemical of some kind. but isopropyl and cleaning don't work at all. I've just oiled it and put it away for now. I tend not to do too much cleaning of the blade except oil and a light clean but this one is really bothering me. Would love to know if anyone else has seen this or know how to remove it.

Lovely blade, really gorgeous

I have tassels for all my swords but the sad thing is they mostly live in bags with their respective sword written on them so they don't degrade further
-
Just had a look on us eBay and yeah I can see them. (Results for bladed products aren't shown on UK ebay) Will keep an eye on it thanks.
-
Thank you very much for that Jussi and the effort you put in. It's greatly appreciated. I'm collating all the information I'm getting from all sources to try and make a comprehensive source. I'll upload it as a PDF to the board when it's got enough information. Thanks again

Ah I'm still waiting for my copper handled nco. I'll find one some day!
-
ah that's a nice display, interesting to make a Tokonoma. I have a small room in my library that i store them in but they're all in bags inside cases. Never got round to making them look nice, it's a fine line between what I want and what the wife says will happen :D
-
no worries, I'd be too worried my cat would knock one of my swords over if it was on the tachi kake and with a stone floor :'(
-
Hi Chris, I store all my swords in sword bags in the dark and don't usually display them at all (except a single Gunto I have in my library) but would like to own an authentic Tachi Kake that I like the look of at some point. I'm more interested in seeing the variety that other members have
-
All in all would just love to see examples that other people own
-
No idea really, I think it's one of those things that once I see it I'll know if I want it One of the reasons i wanted to see other people's or even ones that people really enjoy. not a tachi kake but i love this on the tachi kake front i'm really not sure, i like quite simple and elegant. I don't know if one exists but the saya i would like to match it to has split grass stems under the lacquer. something with a similar motif would be nice
-
Would love to see examples of members Tachi Kake. I've been keeping an eye out for one that takes my fancy but they don't come up too often.

Ww2 gunto The thread

Tried to get a few more of the Hamon for everyone. There's some kind of dark staining on the blade. Doesn't come off. Isn't rust. Any ideas? Looks chemical to me
-
Interesting. I'll take some photos of the metal and blade tomorrow. See if I can capture some more information
-
The blade has damage from somekind of fluid or chemical that won't come off with isopropyl or after an oiling. In one or two of the shots it looks the same as the hamon
