    Maybe Kanefusa 兼房? Alas, there are at least seven swordsmiths using that mei.

    Kane 兼 and then something. Pretty sure it is a Seki smith. 兼 ？ 昭和十七年 = 1942.

    Conway, the Japanese army did issue some of these parade swords as they show up in the ordnance school manuals. They are depicted alongside the Type 32 and Type 95. Attached is a picture of one of these swords from an ordnance school textbook. The inspection mark belongs to the following. 京 = 陸軍兵器行政本部造兵部板橋監督班

    Without a doubt in my mind, Rob & Scogg are calling it what it is, a reproduction.

    There is a fourth variation that can be seen on page 167, plate 235, of F&G, 1997. It also is on a Formosan colonial sword. 京東 Tōkyō (reading from right to left, F&G has the translation wrong.) 越 Echizen’ya (plus the two characters below) 前 屋 製 = sei = made or manufactured.

    Correct, 越 as in Echizen’ya-Tazaki Store. It has shown up before but without the enclosing circle. So this logo variation is a first appearance for me. 越前屋多崎商店 = Echizen’ya Tazaki Shōten. Cross-Reference Arsenal Stamps.

    I think the leather strap covers the scabbard throat opening when the sword is withdrawn. The strap folds over onto the other side and snaps into place where the tsuka restraining strap was previously snapped in. Note the extra reversed snap at the bottom of the strap for this purpose.

    Stegel commented on this many years ago and more recently I posted a list of them. Whats the DEMAND for early copper handled type 95 ncos swords?? The sword above got overhauled or repaired at some point in its active service.

    豐富豐丸作 The characters are real; however, it could be either Chinese or Japanese? If Japanese, very uncommon in my opinion. There was a city in Hokkaidō by the name of Toyotomi 豐富. 豐富 City name: Wikipedia: Toyotomi, Hokkaido 豊富: Wiktionary 豊富 豐丸: As a first name, could be pronounced as Toyomaru. carbon copy @Markus @SteveM @BANGBANGSAN

    Sorry, unable to recover the Aoi sword with the order number of AS20447. However, the bottom portion of 壽 matches Sesko's Nihonto Compendium. I am going to record 828 as made by Sadatoshi 貞壽 for the time being.

    Reminds me of the light weight Type 98. There were Murata imitations as Murata himself mentioned it in an interview. This interview can be found over Ohmura's website.

    Interesting twist we have here. I have been looking for some more examples of Sadatoshi's work and there does not appear to be many to compare to. It could very well be Sadatoshi using a cursive style 壽 and not Sadakiyo. Old vs New Characters 壽 vs 寿 Conway, can you post a picture just of the 上村貞壽 characters?     No, I have not seen this stamp before. It looks like an encircled katakana MO. ㋲ = encircled katakana モ.
