  1. It is Mitsu, Moto would only have one Horizontal small line on top.
  2. I think seordsmits know their own names and don’t make mistakes in their signatures. Then I can see that the blade tapers but I cannot see Fumbari, would be nice to see if the Hamon runs into the Nakago. I think that this blade is Gimei and Suriage. Maybe it looks very different without the Habaki and you could also show the other side of the Nakago.
  3. Yea I love this kamakura mujihada and the sanbonsugi a few hundred years before it was invented.
  4. How long is the Ubuha then ?
  5. What the others that see swords like this everyday, I think unlike you Carl, want to say is that this blade is most likely Gimei. That means that the Signature is not from Gassan Sadakazu. That does not mean the blade is not a Nihonto, forgeries like this where done for centurys. The reason that people say this is Gimei is because Gassan Sadakazu is a high valued smith with a very nicely finished Nakago and Signature. Could you share some more pictures like a full picture of the whole blade without mounts and Habaki. Maybe it is still a nice sword.
  6. I was thinking about the #3 is a Dotanuki but I wasn’t able to see Enju in the others. For example the Boshi of blade #2 is not maru but the Hada and hamon could fit while blade #1 Hada does not look Enju at all to me
  7. Looks like an acid polish and the roundness of the shinigi is another hint. So this is a modern fake or an amateur polished blade. Some Hamon elements look like Yokoyama school.
  8. I’m back to try Naminohira/Satsuma from Oei to the late Muromachi. Nobody else ?
  9. We are just some guys looking on pictures, I think their is a good chance we are wrong. Also “Krum” is German and is used for a curvature that is not intended or come from an accident/damage. Get it to a qualified polisher and then to shinsa if you really want to know what it is.
  10. It’s Torizori in my opinion and if I imagine that it was once longer it becomes even more. But I don’t think it was much longer maybe 8cm and the lower Mekugiana is the first one this fits Katateuchi like John said. Edit:
  11. Here’s one for the satsuma ppl https://www.aoijapan.com/katanasasshu-ju-masakiyonbthk-the-67th-juyo-token/
  12. I’m not at home but from memory I think Nagayama wrote that they are signed “Bishu Osafune Sukesada” have a Gunome Hamon and are around 63cm long. From this i think they are most likely katateuchi. But my own impression is that the kazu uchimono has a big variation depending on the smith (Sukesada) who made it. The 3rd Sukesada I posted is only an ubu 46cm Wakizashi and I would say it is a kazuuchimono. Suguha based with some Bo utsuri but the Ashi are few and look randomly placed. Then there is small Kinsuji and some frayed nie but not really following a pattern. Nice to look at but miles away from the ordered works of Hikobei, Genbei or Yosozaemon. Now comes the romantic dreamer part. My Waki got the Nakagomune like it is described and the raised Hamon at the Yokote and bright Ha. So it could be a Kazuuchimono made by Yosozaemon Sukesada. But I’m not stupid (I think) and I’m sure the NBTHK does not paper them Yosozaemon if it is not on the Nakago. Also there is a kazuuchimono Meito Atakigiri
  13. I think in most cases the kazu uchi mono are around 63cm long and a date is always a good sign. http://world.seiyudo.com/product/ka-100122/ Bishu Osafune Sukesada Saku with Date Tensho 12 And only Bishu osafune Sukesada without a date. Not saying I have solved any questions about Kazuuchimono I also think the difference in photo setup don’t really allow to compare.
  14. The original Kogarasu-Maru doesn’t have the Yokote line but I think the name fits better with Yokote. Edit: But it is just a big Moroha-Zukuri without the blunt part ? https://japaneseswordlegends.wordpress.com/2015/10/01/the-kogarasu-maru/
  15. Just want to add to your first comment on the Daisho set without fk. If it is shakudo and gold chances are high the Fuchikashira was only horn and the set is complete ?
  16. I never had a komonjo blade in hands but from pictures I think the modern ones as real as the blades from samuraiswordsdirect or other eBay sellers of this kind. Ken you tell the same story for some years without proof so I stay with my opinion. Without seeing some good jinie im in camp China. And ofc ken even if he sells real Japanese swords the fact what kind of Gimei he sells does make him nobody honorable. All this living national treasure and mukansa smith names on this…
  17. http://www.ksky.ne.jp/~sumie99/sword7.html
  18. I'm retreating to the mountains to continue my ninja training
  19. Oei Bizen Morimitsu.
  20. Saya longer then the blade is nothing uncommon.
  21. The outlines of the Nakago should taper smooth while yours has some swelling up in the middle also the Nakagojiri does look not original.
  22. The blade fits well in the Koshirae ? EDIT: Ofc Franco D is right. Alternativ is what Grey said.
  23. Playing detective on my phone I come to following conclusion. The black behind the leaves is for better contrast against the nashiji and the gold flake inside the small leave shows that it was done before the nashiji. i could also be completely wrong 🥹
  24. I think the Kirimon are also original and of high quality. They are raised with multi layers of Tonoko mixed with Urushi while most are “simply” lacquered on the nearly finished surface.
