  6. Hello, could someone please translate the bottom of this wooden okimono?
  7. Agree on all accounts
  8. Its more of a case by case basis. Id say the quality of the work outweighs signature, a theme prevalent in most art.
  9. For Jizai okimono, there are really two leagues in terms of quality. The later period ones that arent as intricate or well made can be had for a few hundred dollars. On the other spectrum, there are top notch Myochin/other makers Jizai okimono that are incredibly well made and complex. The price gap is huge between them, smallish lobsters would start around a few thousand or so. While complex ones are usually over 100k. https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/17858/lot/311/ https://www.bonhams.com/auctions/22814/lot/444/

  12. I see your point, but I respectfully disagree with it.
  13. What is wrong with the post Ray?
  14. If someone has the funds for it, it looks great for the price(especially with the sale). http://nihontocraft.com/Juyo_Token_Yamato_Hosho_Sadaoki_Tanto.html

  19. A little off topic, what are the menuki made of? Thank you
  20. Yeah, those wave natsuo menuki have always been a dream for me. Would probably have to sell everything I own to afford those sadly.
  21. So it has some decent size to it. Being conservative, I'd say Showa, but it could in fact be late edo. It's an attractive carving.
  22. What are the dimensions? It looks better than most mingei wood carvings of the early 20th cent. It could be older, however.
  23. Best of luck with the search George, that menuki looks amazing.
  24. Here you go Steven,
