  1. For those having trouble contacting him his new e-mail address is ericroush@yahoo.com Chris
  2. He has A sword of mine that was promised to be finished over a month ago If I lived close I would be very temped to see how 8 years of martial arts would work  As he currently has e-bay listings , will bombard him with questions. Just maybe he will get sick of me. Chris
  3. Thanks all , Eactly as I suspected. The little bugger disappeared like a rat up a drain pipe when I asked for references and photo's of work in hand. He was also pretty keen to get his money up front . Another shark swimming in the nihonto waters. Chris
  4. Hi All , Enquiring as to whether any of the board members belong to this organisation or have had dealings with their restoration service good ,bad or ugly . Comments would be appreciated as they come up amongst the Japanese sword restoration sites ? Chris
  5. Hi I also have a Tachi with NBTHK attribution papers to Mino Senjuin . Good to see something else similar in regards to the papers. Chris
  6. Really ,really envy the members and collectors that are able to get to these shows in the states. We have nothing like that in my neck of the woods , just the odd item that appears at auction houses . Chris
  7. Gary , In a perfect world what you state would be obvious , however there is very few nihonto for sale where I live so have to resort to internet transaction to secure objects of interest. I did my home work to some degree (I now know this was not enough) before dealing with Eric Roush privately not through E-bay . Despite many many promise's 9 months later I still do not have my sword. He has proven to be hugely un-reliable ,a very poor communicator and to boot an out and out liar. I will state that I will never deal with him again and sugguest that others aviod him like the plague as only greath can come from any assoication. Everett I would strong sugguest that you get the law involved ,as it would seem that this is the degree of motivation that Eric needs, Sad but I feel we can only put up with so much from this guy. I will pm you on another matter. Chris
  8. Thanks All for the replys, Seems to be better left alone for now , will contuinue looking and learning . Chris
  9. Hi all, This e-bay seller has a number of tsuba for sale , some signed some not. These listings are some what confusing as looking at some of these items they would seem possibly to be real or just maybe good fakes. What has sent the alarm bells of are two seperate listing that to my eye are the same item ,one with reasonable laquer finish and the other in poor condition. Members thoughts would be appreciated as there is one i like. I have very little experience with fittings so very much a learning process. http://www.ebay.com/itm/D960-ytkg-Japan ... 1c31e1d203 http://www.ebay.com/itm/D962-yjkg-Japan ... 19db1f96dd Many thanks Chris
  10. What I didn't get with this listing is the mix of civilian and military mounts ie in particular the civilian style tsuka. Makes me believe that possibly ejroush had fitted the tsuka himself and was not original to the sword . This is something he does often . Chris
  11. Hi Jason , As a fellow kiwi collector I would sugguest you might want to be somewhat humble in your postings towards other members here as these people have a huge amount of experience and have exposure to nihonto that we can but dream off. There are a small handful of experienced collectors here in Nz with a couple with a life time experience of collecting nihonto . Phillip James is very approachable and will go out of his way to help if he can . Find him thru trademe Chris
  12. Thanks all for your input . The real problem i have which is driven by my original post is I have an edo mounted tachi with nbthk papers for the blade that has an awful tsuba mounted that is just all wrong and very much not original as the whole thing flops round like a fish out of water. what i was hopeing for was a replacement with the nakago opening and tsuba thickness more in keeping with the blade . lean towards tsuba's done in the Sukashi style. As an engineer this an easy fix as long as i can find something appropiate. I am also aware of Greys website and items. Many thanks for your comments. Chris
  13. Hi all , Here is an example of an e-bay listening as mentioned in my last post . Please bear with me as I have very little knowledge regarding the judgement on fittings and are more than likely grabbed by the papers ( possibly a degree of safety ) and in some cases the shinny bits. http://www.ebay.com/itm/6011-Japanese-S ... 4ac1fecf51 Chris
  14. Hi All' As a relatively new collector I am interested how the more experience collectors view the E-bay sellers who offer Japanese papers (NBTHK)with their items . In most cases these are new papers and come with a 14 day right of return . There seem to be some relativity nice fittings available at a resonable cost from a couple of Japanese sellers who have excellent feedback. Chris
  15. Hi , Everyone is posting glowing reports of e-bays resolution system. Just thought i would post another perspective on e-bay /paypal based on my experience a few years back. Like you brought a wakazashi of a seller and when I recieved it found it to be a total fake ,something he had managed to hide in his listing.Went back to the seller to try and return it and get my money back , he wouldn't have a bar of it . Raised a not as discribed complaint with e-bay. They requested I get documentation to support my claim which i did from a local collector of nihonto with 30yrs experience. Accepted his accessment but then requested a second document which i obtained from an antique dealer with a history of selling nihonto . After all this declined my case and supported the seller So as i payed with paypal I actioned a case of fraud with my card company and they retrieved a full refund for me Left one pissed e-bay seller. If nothing else resolves your situation you may consider a similar route, very satisfying beating the big guns  Chris , Nz
  16. Hi , Assuing you mean peter martin living in hungary I have the following e-mail address for him which was current when I last talked to him last year. gajdospeter@hotmail.co.uk Regards Chris
  17. Hi, Be very wary as I seen a similar scam a while back where a chinese dealer used genuine photo's of nihonto from another web site which was firmilar to me as his listing. I would sugguest that you would pay your money to him and never see your money, items or the dealer again. Chris
  18. Forgot to mention That Mr Roush has mentioned in a recent e-mail (communication is not his strong point unless it involves money) that he is preparing to travel to Japan to train under a Japanese polisher. Fact or fiction ? who knows but if true one would hope that his workmanship will improve. I have also learned that he uses Diamond lapping paste in his finishing work Chris
  19. Hi All , I now have the papered Tachi from Eric, Not perfect but for the money was a good buy. It would seem Mike is learning some hard leasons like others regarding Eric. Chris
  20. Hi All, The tachi has turned up in New Zealand , waiting for it to clear customs Chris
  21. Hi, One English dealer I visit on line has a huge inventory of genuine Nihonto including some nice Gendatio. If you google uk Japanese sword dealers a few pop up. I would recommend http://www.thelanesamoury.co.uk for choice but be prepared to pay. Chris
  22. Thanks Eric, NOT having him do work , but have purchased two items from him , one a papered tachi .Both are paid for but I still Don't have them despite promises, so wish to ring him to give him the hurry up. Chris
  23. Hi, Would like additional contact details for the e-bay seller ejroush. I have a private e-mail address plus usual e-bay contacts. I also have a phone number for his online Restoration business. He seldom answers any of these points of contact. He must have a domestic phone number prehaps . As an international buyer I can't access details provided by any of the search engines. If Anyone has used him for restoration and has this contact number it would be very helpful. Chris , New Zealand
