  1. Is it just me, or do they all look fairly newly made, the rust on the last one looks not that old. Nice swords, but they do seem to be not that old. Brian
  2. Okay, I recently bought this one, it does have a beautiful hamon , and some hada present, the pics do not show the hada, but it is present. I think it is most likely a late Shinto, or early ShinShinto blade around 1800's or so. The fittings are very old, I'm thinking Shinto period on the fittings also, and such, but it seems to have an WW2 Menuki, which confuses me somewhat, and the notches on the top of the Menui-Machi are a little confusing also, as they seem to have been put there on purpose. The Tsuba seems very old, and is not signed either, but there are three small circles on it, and once again that is very confusing also. The fittings on the handle have gold inlays of an ox and are in fantastic shape. The blade is 22 1/2" in total length and the cutting edge is just over 17 1/4", the Ha razor sharp down the entire edge of the blade. The Nakago is not signed, and has the old black rust on it. The blade seems of an old polish. The fittings on this sword, and the Saya, are very old. Brian
  3. YES, I do like this one very much so.. Brian
  4. @ Jean May be its just me, as i like taking long drives, enjoy the other parts of the country, the food, the people, and do some sight seeing as we are driving to and from an event. We are heading down to Louisville next weekend to see the Samurai exhibit, i will take as many pics as possible. Brian
  5. @ Mike Are you the one selling this on eBay, or what ? Thanks Brian
  6. I think any future meeting would be great, but it would even be better if it was centralized, not where everyone would have to fly to it, like Chicago, or possibly Ohio, or the Kentucky area. Make it centralized, so that everyone could attend, without having to fly to it, as I can and would drive , but not interested in having to fly to it. Just my thought. Brian
  7. Nice sword, but since i have bought polished swords, there are no other swords to look at anymore. I guess I'm getting picky, and only want the nicer Nihonto's. Brian
  8. Of course I will be posting pics of it here, for everyone to see. I bought a really nice Nihonto Wakazashi from a member in here tonight, very beautiful sword, in great polish, and great mounts also, and it has papers with it also. Brian
  9. @ Thomas. Thank you, I found one on there, traditional ITO wrapping, and fittings, and the armor piercing blade. Unless they say the one i want is sold, or pending funds. thanks Much appreciated. Brian
  10. @ Paul, thats what I was thinking, as I love all types of weapons, and thats why I love this one so much, I would love to find one from a member in here, especially with the traditional ITO wrapped Tsuka on it. Thanks for answering that question for me Paul. Brian
  11. The blade on it, almost seem's triangle in shape, which I like as that would that a very strong blade, almost like a spike for punching through armor. Brian
  12. I think you are correct, I would love to buy one from another member in here, that has the same type of blade, the same thick MUNE as is on this one, and would love to find one in the traditional ITO wrapping also. thanks for the quick reply. Brian
  13. Okay, Im interested in this Tanto, or would rather buy one from another member in here first, the thing about this one that attracted me to it is the really thick MUNE on it. I would prefer one that is an traditionally wrapped tanto, but not too picky on it. Please let me know what you might have for sale, and how common is the thickness on these. thanks Brian eBay listing ; http://www.ebay.com/itm/221109394340?ss ... 1423.l2649
  14. The feathers on them were Golden Eagle feathers, a buddy of mine that is the local game warden, he said unless I have an License, or belong to a tribe that no one else could own them, which I thought sounded in-correct. Either way i would love to own just a couple original ones with them on the arrows. As I do have some current production Japanese arrows, with bamboo shafts, and white turkey feathers on them. Brian
  15. @ Bubba-San Just to keep people from arguing in here, lets just resolve this, and sell me this wakizashi. See, that was easy, problem solved. All kidding aside, I do like the looks of this, but of course I do prefer the wakizashi over other blades. Brian
  16. I've tried to buy original arrows from Japan, was told that they could not send me any feathers with raptor feathers, eagle, or hawk feathers, really sucks, as I have seen some beautiful arrows for sale recently. Brian
  17. Yes, I like this sword, really nicely done. Brian
  18. I went to this web site, and could not find any name Okuru listed anywhere on there. Link; http://nihontoclub.com/view/smiths/meisearch Brian
  19. You mention something about papers, but dont see any pics of the papers. Brian
  20. I asked him about the comment he posted; " The blade is old polished(This sword has small rust.). " He was referring to the old black rust that is on the nakago, saying that it does have the black rust, around Mekugi-ana, and that was it. There is no rust on the blade, he was trying to be as honest as possible. You see in the pics on the peg hole ( Mekugi-ana ), that it does have that tiny little rust spot. Brian
  21. @ Jean No, I would not have bought it, like said previously, I have been listening to what you and others have been telling me, I bought it on these reasons only; 1) To have a blade polished would cost 75.00 to 100.00 and inch, and the time frame for polishing, and the idea of having it shipped off. 2) The cost to have it papered, and the time frame of having it shipped off also. 3) And to have a shirasaya built for it also, but this one looks in mint condition. 4) It's an Nihonto, in beautiful condition. 5) The thought of any future resale, or trade value, which Brian confirmed that for me as well. I'm starting to get really picky on the blades i look at, and I bought this one on these reason only, by buying this complete, nothing needs done to it, everything that collectors would do to a sword have been done to already is the main reason(s). Brian
  22. @ Jean I think the time it would take to have it sent off and get it back to have it polished, plus the time it would take to have it sent off, and get it back on having it papered is well worth the price of the sword, and like you said # 4 is the best one of all. Brian
  23. @ Jamie I do listen to Jean, what i was saying i took everything into consideration i said in comments before i bought the sword, why would i not take the advice of experts in here, Brian the mod owner even stated that I did good on this sword. Brian
  24. I was looking at it this way; 1) To have a blade polished would cost 75.00 to 100.00 and inch, and the time frame for polishing, and the idea of having it shipped off. All of this i took into consideration before I bought it, and I was willing to go as high as 1800.00 on it, glad it didn't go that high. Brian
