  1. Okay, i did some trading with another member in here today, and got this Kanezane in full combat mounts, great looking blade, great condition Tsuka, great seppa's also, the really nice and thick type seppa's. The Ito wrap is in great condition as well, the locking mechanism works like it should, the blade will be sent off for a full polish. Got her home a little bit ago, did a really good cleaning on it, and the blade cleaned up really good, as there seemed to be some type of brown gunk all over the blade, got it all off, and the blade shines perfectly, and shows the Hamon really good also. It has his signature, with the turtle hot stamp, and the Seki stamping on it also, all fittings are stamped with the number 61. I'm sure everyone in here knows how much I love swords made by Kanezane. These are the only Showa swords that I will continue to buy. Brian
  2. But overall, what do you think of the condition of this blade, I like what I see so far, it says it will be delivered here tomorrow, so that's what the tracking number says, as it does say it is in Mansfield already. Really fast shipping from Japan, under 5 days. Plus it looks like I might be picking up another Kanezane tomorrow, I know i said no more Showa, but i will buy any of his swords when I find them, and this one is in full Gunto mounts, with signature, turtle hot stamp, and the arsenal stamping as well. Brian
  3. Yes, like Brian said, put it into a Shirasaya mount, and display it that way, so that you would never have to mess with the Gunto mounts again, and not take any chances of causing them any more damage. I'm sure myself, and other members in here would love to see the Nakago, and signature. Brian
  4. @ Lance Yes, the Hamon on my blade looks just like that, here a pic of part of the blade showing the Hamon with the partial chrysanthemum design in it. Brian
  5. On the phone with Mr. Benson right now, and seeing what he can get for me, as that sword just sold recently, but he does have others, and will be sending me some pics and info. Will let you know as I get the info. Brian
  6. Okay, how about this one, not on ebay, and looks really good, and has papers with it. I really like this style of jabara maki ito wrapping. I see nothing wrong with sword, other then it does not belong to me as it is owned by Bob Benson, and I have bought a previous sword from him in the past. 7. Okay, thank you, now I know, this is why I come to this forum, so many knowledgeable people, the search continues. Brian
  8. Okay, I'm serious about buying this sword, everyone keeps saying that I need to buy a very high quality sword, and this is made by a very famous sword smith, I will be calling them om Monday to ask about it, and see what his bottom dollar would be. What do you all think about it, I absolutely love it, and I would be so honored to be able to own such a great sword as this one is. I don't think there could possibly be a better sword anywhere as of right now. Thanks Brian eBay link ; http://www.ebay.com/itm/Japanese-Samura ... 35bf9a3ac9
  9. Just imagine the amount of high quality swords that could be bought with the dollar amount that an Lear jet would cost. Brian
  10. Either way, to doesn't matter to me, as I love the looks of it, it has such great details, and is absolutely beautiful to me. I just wonder what kind of blade would have been with such beautiful fittings. Brian
  11. It seems like it much better in appearance now, so i think so also. Thanks Brian
  12. @ mark, I live in Mansfield, yes, not too far from you either. Brian
  13. Here are the other pics for you, and I had someone email me, saying this about it; That is looks like "HEIANJYO" style with gold inlay, with possibly some brass mixed into it also. The Sageo is newly added to it, by the previous owner, everything else is original to it. He wanted to test the Menuki, but I would not allow him to do the scratch test on them, as they seem to be gold also. Brian
  14. I don't want to do that, as then any more testing could damage it, I didn't want him to do the scratch on it, but the only way to tell. I'm happy with knowing that it did test positive for gold, its a great Tsuba, and looks good with the Koshirae. Just thought i would share it with other members in here. Brian
  15. He did the scratch on a special plate, and did a drop of acid on it, just to very it is gold. He said to find out the Karat weight he would need a special machine, or send it off, and Im not sending it off to anyone, as it is not stamped, no way to tell he said. he said it does look to be very heavy karat weight gold, for sure above 14, and higher. Brian
  16. He did a very tiny scratch, the only way to be able to test it, cannot really tell where he did the test scratch at all. he did the type of test onto a plate, and put the acid onto the plate, not on the tsuba. Brian
  17. Okay, i recently purchased a koshirae set, and this is the Tsuba that is with it, i took it to a buddy that owns a pawn shop, he tested it, and it does test positive for gold. Is there any information anyone could tell on this. Thanks Brian
  18. Okay, I re-did the display, they are facing the proper direction, and the sword that was throwing off the curvature is sitting by itself. Hopefully this will do. Brian
  19. @ Mark The idea of getting a blade for it was just a thought, and I know it would be nearly impossible to find one for it, so yes it will probably remain the way it is, and that it is Gold , not brass just makes it mush better. I'm sure this was not some sword that belonged to a merchant, or just an ordinary person, I wonder who would have owned such a sword like this. Brian
  20. Yes, that is what I meant, sorry. Sometimes i do not word things the way i want them to sound. I did take the Tsuba to a buddy that owns a pawn shop, he did a small scratch test, put a drop of acid on the gold he scratched on the plate, and it did test positive for gold. It is Gold, the seller thought it was brass, it is not. Brian
  21. Now for the big question, should I leave it the way it is, or should I find a blade that will fit it, and how would I do that without buying the incorrect blade for proper fitment. Brian
  22. I recently bought this, and it showed up in the mail today, and thought i would share it here. Koshirae info; This set of Koshirae has broken fans design, with soft metal FUCHI-KASHIRA. Large iron tsuba with what appears to be either gold, or brass inlayed, radiating out in a fan shape, comes with a standard , and a two piece Habaki, and two wooden blades. I think this is Edo period, but i could be wrong, the Mekugi pulls apart, is not the screw together type. The Saya is in perfect condition, the Sageo on it looks new though. There is a signature on the Tsuka wood part. Brian
  23. Yes they have, but to have a letter signed by Ron Hartmann, that does not happen too often. It has got to help the sword, with this letter about it. Brian
  24. Yes, I plan on fixing them, and displaying them properly, and will post another pic. Brian
