  1. Yes-i am very keen in reading what Henry as it´s former proprietor did find out! Equally i would like to know the exact weight in grains please Mariusz... (edit:please excuse this maybe stupid question by an stupid like me -i can´t remember if we had this question already? -are there any sights of "White Bronze" to be seen in your´s exemplaire? (still am puzzled with Han influence here-however unlogic as there´s around 1000 Years time-difference...it may but give an hint if it´s inside..) Christian
  2. insinuating nothing at all!-Very certainly! "Think-Tank" may be an European expression(?)-meaning "TO THINK ABOUT AN PROMINENT TOPIC IN ENCLOSED CIRCLE OF EQUAL MINDED/EQUAL INTERESTED" (maybe there will be answers or some solution found?....) no more-no less... Christian
  3. LOL! here we are... certainly but not of Japanese oringin, equally not Kagami...far away from "Kagamishi"(what ever this word from early 20th century shall be)... Laugh! (Think Tank!)-is the motto... (and do not shoot the messenger please!) Christian
  4. equally this but, does not matter-as the fact of 2 sided "picturesque" Mirrors(if these ever were Mirrors(intended as Mirrors) in "Kagami-consense") is but such extremely rare to see... ...that in mine eyes..."they"(this extreme possibility) do/does not play any relevance per se to those both "japanised Tsuba" here... Christian
  5. Very excellent remark Boris! Thank you for pointing this out! Christian
  6. Hoanh you deeply impress me now! You made an very(!) fast but equally very Excellent(!) conclusion! Great to have you on board!( ) (am getting old i think(LOL!)...as me here,it took me some nice longer research-time and some nice funds to spend, till me here, got up to your´s obvious level of seeing here immediately...Laugh!) Christian
  7. Mariusz "the messenger is quite most times the one shot" "Think-Tank" may be motto here... Phantastic Tsuba!(the your´s) Since long an formidable threat!.... Christian
  8. O.K. here´s an strong hint,as it seems to me,that obviously there are just very few who ever did inquire especially into this group yet... Mine hint is K´un-lun-or "internet simplified" Kunlun-which does mean in simplified Chinese: 昆仑山; traditional Chinese: 崑崙山 As i but said already-it´s not an Chinese Character-rather and to get precise now-it´s Tibetan! Wow! some several thousand miles apart from those days Kamakura Japan-Not?... (as i said-it´s tricky, tricky, tricky) The Kunlun in Tibet is former center of Mountain Taoism with several derivates... Equally, and especially in this case,i think,it´s important to know that Tibetan Buddhism(comming from India)in those times(of course without any change also latter)was everything else than a "peaceful" religious sect...rather very contrary...(somehow like all religions) Next hint? Christian
  9. Phantastic Tsuba! Remarkable is equally the Tsuba in Monsieur Burawoy´s book-i really wonder where it is those days... have to add that this entire "field" is not at all sufficiently researched yet-equally i may allow me to say, that i do fully agree with the maybe "vague" words Mr.Burawoy did write relating... He certainly may had an very specific reason to do such So to start: Did you compare the Kanji on that Tsuba Nr. 17 (Picture book of old Tsuba)? Certainly not Japanese!-equally not Chinese,too... Now it get´s tricky!...LOL! Christian
  10. and this here is for you Curran Hmmh?
  11. David i did not participate yet,as honestly speaking-i do not have an slightest idea about your´s Topic-Tsuba here... It´s too strange in many aspects... i but found this one in mine books...maybe of help?(dont´t know)..it somehow does remind me in some way to the your´s...
  12. Curtis, you can´t go wrong here in buying it(if it´s not that expensive) Some sign of Kyo-some sign of reminescant Ko-Hagi... Equally, you do have an relatively strong mimi in comparence to an rather small diameter... Who may this be?(LOL!) i just can say-if it´s priced correct...(?) Me-i would buy it! LOL! No worry-Not cast at all after what i can see... No!(to answer on the question relating it´s age attribution you did)- it´s not latter Edo! It´s early to mid of Edo times Christian
  13. Dear Pepe, this is certainly an nice to have Koshirae-"En Suite"-(Well done!) Where are you situated? (reason i do ask is simple-you very certainly do have collectors near to you who will, and certainly could give you an very sophisticated answer on your´s question here) Generally spoken-Hey Guy´s-please do your´s homework! You do buy(or accumulate?)things you do know very well,or not(?)-or maybe(?)....(doesn´t matter)... Such please,do browse this forum(FIRST!) -you´ll find "Plenty" of answers to similar posts already done, questions asked ect.ect...(?) Question: is it resulting(thosedays)really "That hard" to do an first step in selfstudy first???? Sorry Pepe... It´s just getting time we all do change an bit the "niveau" of this section...(at least me would wish) got several "complaints" from old members here(in personal correspondance)who all would wish we could discuss rather significant things, without getting thrown away to the basics... Critics certainly welcomed if not even pleased...it´s just getting bit monotonous this way it actually works...(Not?)? Hope you don´t mind with me now! You but have an nice Koshirae here! Congratulations! Christian Edit: (Thank´s Curran -did not see your´s post before...)...
  14. i always thougt, hey keep this! (One day-you will need...and here we are finally!-Hurrah!-i can use it...) Based on some random musings i just get in reading an just locked thread here in our´s nice Tosogu section... Maybe(?)-THIS helps in propper Kantei? (jbw-this article is photographed from an reknown Nihonto publication from 1979!) (wish that todays collectors still had this humour exposed...-but well?) Enjoy! :D (those of you who may miscredit mine very personal humour here-Sorry!-That´s but me... ) Christian
  15. (some very diplomatic answers here.... ) mine remaining cent would be following: "If" seriously interested...?....then just right starting seriously immediately! Do buy Tsuba Kanshoki and Toso Soran -and you will be happy with. (Motto:If you want to buy you good stuff-you equally have to pay for serious info about) Christian

    Tosa?

It is generally said that they did work either in the Akasaka/or in the Higo stylism... There are but exceptions(as usually)-i do know of one Tsuba worked out in the Nobuie stylism(Owari Nobuie) and myself do have an Yagyu made by them... As far as i know-this very stylism(of your´s Tsuba here) is not known by Myochin-but there may,of course ben others spreading around which are not known till yet of course... I do miss the typical Myochin Iron and the sharp Tagane here on the your´s! Unsigned is quite common-if signed the signature always(...) does include the province equally... Your´s is in mine eyes-an typical Shoami Tsuba...if Tosa Shoami i can not say-this group/stylism never did attract me till yet... The article is not online-i do have it as an binder/maybe it´s but equally published in his new publication?-Do not know,as i don´t have this book yet bought... Christian
  17. christianmalterre

    Tosa?

very certainly no Tosa-Myochin(as i already wrote) (do you have the Tosa Myochin school article by Shigeo?) Christian
  18. christianmalterre

    Tosa?

yes John,me,too by first sight of this picture... i have to confess that this low-res picture here does not help very much... "If" an Tosa Myochin-then yes maybe(as the general stylism indicates late Edo) One but had to observate the iron of this Tsuba first-as it´s quite easy so to see Myochin iron immediately... Me,too rather tend for the Shoami Tosa but immediately... Are there better pictures(High-res.) available? Christian
  19. christianmalterre

    Tosa?

No Myochin to be seen here-at least not in this picture you posted... Tosa can be everything in fact... I personally do not give even one cent on those old papers issued by NBTHK in 70´s meanwhile i saw more incorrect or even totally wrong attributions(especially in Tsuba) than correct ones... If paper-then only buy you Tsuba which already have ben issued by the newer ones(Hozon or up)....or,if you are not 100% shure the paper(an old one) corresponds to the written down in correct manner. Christian
  20. this smart gentleman shurely had the right "recepture"... Ask him! "Most essential book for the modern Witchcook"....Real Magic inside.....keep care!
  21. Gotta! Me
  22. No worry! Next time you but may considder such to ask Curran first(as he does know),before selling such an beautiful Tsuba! (and Hey!-he´s right to your´s door!-me here,it´s first take an ship-such to cross the ocean...) LOL! Christian
  23. David speaking as an collector to you-speaking as an friend in collecting... You do go to fast in selling! (As i remind you just sold/offered an very nice and good Umetada-style Tsuba?) Me,had kept it... Your´s new acquisition here,is sorrowly even not worth to get in considderation against the other one...(Sorry-just mine very personal mind-hope you do not take it wrong) You go to fast! Please take your´s time! Christian
  24. O.K. Pete! This does give matter for further investigation.... Chris
  25. rather Kaga-Goto then?(Kuwamura and/or Katsuki) others i do not see/know then eventually fitting to the Your´s Pete)(?) Possible? (those did generally but sign their´s works-such speaking, am puzzeled.... Christian
