Geoffry,

Do the fittings have the same "535" number stamped on them? Could we see a picture of the saya (scabbard) also?

Nice to see that on this Tomomaro blade and on the other one in Ray's link, the shinogi under the habaki both have the polisher's nagashi signature...I say this as my two Yamagami Munetoshi blades (one RJT) both have them also. It might be significant that Munetoshi and Tomomaro were both members of the Northern Area Sword Assoc. mentioned...maybe the assoc had a classy set of polishers working for them? I notice also that the quality of the koshirae on Assoc. blades is of a high standard. Wonder who their polishers/koshirae mounters were? Sounds like a good survey topic.... (Bruce?)

Regards,

George Trotter

Thanks Geoffry, it confirms what I was thinking about the stamped number. They seem to be prefered by some fitters to painting numbers on the nakago. So far, the fittings are a bit higher quality than average that have the stamped numbers.

You can see more examples here: http://www.militaria...tamping-blades/
