Gunome Posted July 2, 2012 Report Posted July 2, 2012 Hello, I discuss of these 2 iron sukashi tsuba with seniors collectors and opinions are differents : Ones thinks both are Kinai, other thinks it is bushu or anything else. My opinion was choshu for the first one and kinai for the second one. first one second one clic on pics to enlarge it If you got an opinion, it is welcome ... :D Quote
christianmalterre Posted July 2, 2012 Report Posted July 2, 2012 don´t know if you do like to hear mine opinion here do but certainly agree with first senior collector here... Mimi is correct, composition is correct, iron is correct... Bushu is an verbal expression-not more-not less...Kinai influence is obviously (very)strong impact...can but be everything around that school and time in fact.. Perhaps lattest Owari here(?)...LOL!(Joking) Nice typical examples...not more-not less... Christian Quote

docliss Posted July 3, 2012 Report Posted July 3, 2012 I fear that Christian and I are destined to disagree over the attribution of Sebastien’s two tsuba. With their chocolate-brown, factory-iron plate; bold, ubuzukashi work, with gold nunome decoration, within a solid mimi; and the conventional shapes of the seppa-dai and ryō-hitsu all indicate, in my opinion, a C18 Bushū provenance for both tsuba. There will always be a measure of disagreement between a Bushū and a Chōshū attribution, so strong was the former’s influence upon the latter schools. But Kinai – surely not? Koban-shaped seppa-dai – no. Wide, Shōami style ryō-hitsu – no. Chōshū-like iron plate – no. And mumei? In my opinion both of these tsuba are typical of Bushū work, differing only in their mumei state. The second is probably the earlier, and the better, of the two. John L. Quote
Brian Posted July 3, 2012 Report Posted July 3, 2012 Searching the forum pulls up valuable info such as this one: http://www.nihontomessageboard.com/nmb/ ... f=2&t=5148 Agree..Bushu or Choshu..likely the former. Brian Quote
christianmalterre Posted July 3, 2012 Report Posted July 3, 2012 Thank´s John! Your´s statement is very correct here/had an surch for especially this stylism into mine books this latter afternoon, and all Tsuba showing some similarity to those both above mentioned ones, are equally described and attributed-like you already wrote... Typical Kinai would(at least from what is written)not yet congrue... (mine former conclusion is in fact wrong) Christian Quote
docliss Posted July 3, 2012 Report Posted July 3, 2012 Christian, you are a true gentleman! With kind regards, John L. Quote
