John A Stuart Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 Hi Guys, On this list there is 辻一三 and I need to know what it signifies. These were war years and occupation years. To me 辻 'tsuji' means crossroad, or do I have the wrong kanji? Thanks, John Quote
Toryu2020 Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 Japanese can have all kinds of crazy names, How about "the right honorable Tsuji Kazumi" ??? -t Quote
John A Stuart Posted January 27, 2012 Author Report Posted January 27, 2012 OK, that sounds plausible enough. I was afraid it was some way of indicating military governship due to the area in question. Thanks for making me accept it is a personal name. Kazumi or Ichizo. John Quote
John A Stuart Posted January 27, 2012 Author Report Posted January 27, 2012 Ah, stupid me!!! Sorry. The 17th mayor Tsuji was made mayor in 1963. I forgot the Showa dating. The mayor during the war was Koura Sohei. I apologize. John Quote
george trotter Posted January 27, 2012 Report Posted January 27, 2012 This character Tsuji is not so uncommon as a name. There was the mysterious Colonel Tsuji in WWII who was involved in so many clandestine operations (mostly bad)...google him. Also, I have seen a sengoku jidai Mino den blade signed Kanetsuij.
