kbt Posted January 22, 2012 Report Posted January 22, 2012 Dear sirs, I hate to ask for another tanslation in such a short time, but the tsuka it is going on is to be started tomorow, I am trying to find what this says. It is a orphan fuchi . Its a long story but the short version is the parts I purchased for my katana blade, due to my igonorance ended up being for a wak, so they will have to wait for my next purchase. So I plan to use this with a plain kashira , but I would like to know what it says before I use it. Many many thanks. Kim Quote
Tcat Posted January 22, 2012 Report Posted January 22, 2012 Kim, The image you have provided is a mirror flip. Viewers are going to have to be proficient at reading mirrored grass script and mei before they are going to be able to tell you what that means - without having to download the image, open some photo editor and reflip it again to get the image to be true. Not the simplest of endevours - make it easy for them; I suggest reposting with a correctly arranged jpeg. Regards, Alex Quote
Brian Posted January 22, 2012 Report Posted January 22, 2012 Done....and original mirror image one deleted. Brian Quote
kbt Posted January 22, 2012 Author Report Posted January 22, 2012 Thank you Brian, I flipped it I thought I took the picture upside down, I didn't realize I had made it a mirror. Thanks again. Kim Quote
kbt Posted January 22, 2012 Author Report Posted January 22, 2012 Thank you Nobody, lol . I hope you have a great day, now my search begins. Great bunch of guys here by the way . Kim Quote
kbt Posted January 22, 2012 Author Report Posted January 22, 2012 Sorry, to be a bother but , I immediately assumed that was a name, and I am finding it on the internet . Im finding so many I wanted to ask if this is maybe a school, area , or if indeed it is a name. Thank you Kim Ps the side of the fuchi. Quote
runagmc Posted January 22, 2012 Report Posted January 22, 2012 Echizen is a province, Daijo is a honorific title, Nagatsune is a name. It would be like saying 'Nagatsune, Daijo of Echizen province'. Quote
kbt Posted January 22, 2012 Author Report Posted January 22, 2012 Thank you runagmc , much appreciated. Kim Quote
Ludolf Richter Posted January 23, 2012 Report Posted January 23, 2012 From my many pics of Nagatsune (Haynes H 06539;1722-1787;starting as a painter) the Mei seems to be real.He normally signed with Ichinomiya Echizen Daijo Minamoto Nagatsune and Kao (besides only Nagatsune plus Kao):because there was not enough space on the Fuchi,he probably omitted Ichinomiya and Minamoto (a clan name).Ludolf Quote
kbt Posted January 23, 2012 Author Report Posted January 23, 2012 Thank you Ludolf, I appreciate it, its seems its a much better fuchi than I thought after some research. I have to say I was very disappointed that it was an orphan. These guys have made me feel much better. Thanks again guys for all the help. Kim Quote
