  2. I've been wanting to ask this same question for a long time but didn't want to get flamed haha . So there should be no little droplets of oil left once you have wiped it for the last time correct ? Thanks Kim
  3. Oh . Heres a couple more pictures. Kim
  4. The mei is Sadamitsu "gimei" I'm working on the rest of what it says. Too crude to be what ? Thanks for your time. Kim
  5. I'm not sure if this is where to ask since this is a newly made blade, if its not feel free to move it to the proper place. I could just ask Paul for the translation but I thought before I did that I would give it a try myself. I read this as saying, " One lucky day in August 1991 " Thank you Kim

Congrats Ford ! Kim B Toth
  7. You can also find those pens at an automotive paint store, they are often used to sand near emblems and such. Kim Toth
  8. Take it as a compliment, I think both sides are amazing . Thanks for sharing. Kim Toth
  9. My resources are far from limited, but I am easily talked into things I should avoid, gullible is what we call it. I am a person and what I say is what I mean and the truth as I see it. But I have come to realize that there are a lot of people out in the world who are less than honest in their business practices and so one should be very cautious. I have bought and read every book suggested to me , and I am shocked at the amount of forgery that has gone on in nihonto. I just assumed it was only money that was forged. Then I read the story of Kanesuga ? that heard his signature being forged . Its gone on from the beginning and they where using chisels and hammers not ball point pens so that also should be taken into account I believe. I'm sure I'm way off but, I'll get it figured out eventually, at least I hope I do. Haha. Kim Toth
  10. I agree with Adam, get someone that knows what he is doing, believe me they all say this so go with someone with references. Just my opinion . Kim Toth
  11. Mark, I am also new to this, but from what I have gathered so far, it is all just someones opinion when it comes to nihonto. Nobody alive today witnessed any signatures or saw any old blades constructed so, learned people voice an opinion of a blade and the "possibility" of who made it. Signatures seem to be worthless, and from what I have read so far, Japanese national treasures suspect. Of course I am very new and this is just my opinion, but I don't think there is any way to tell who made a blade so you will have to go by what you are willing to pay for any given nihonto. Again just one new guy's opinion. Kim Toth

Thanks Chris and Geraint , yes I believe I will have to have it all redone . I knew it was a gamble when I started, I had already read that one should never buy a sword out of polish . I took a chance. I should be able to have it and my other one done properly this year . I hope lol . Kim Toth
