hi thanks john i had to take it out into the sunlight to get a reasonable picture as there is a bit of light rust on the tang[yes i know not to touch it] cheers tony

Hi Stephen, I think your right on the 'kane' . That kanji really can be written quite a few ways. "nao' not so sure, but it looks close. John
