Bugyotsuji Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 不忘勇子 This was written on two sides of a skull Netsuke. 不忘 on one side and 勇子 on the other. Can anyone help me discover who is Yuko, or Isako? Surely not Hatakeda Yuko? Quote
Nobody Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Do you refer to Hatakeyama Yuko? (http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E7%95%A0% ... 7%E5%AD%90 ) Quote

John A Stuart Posted May 5, 2010 Report Posted May 5, 2010 Although maybe forced to commit suicide, she was a brave girl. Yuko, was that her original name? Since it means brave child. Anyway, 不忘 can mean 'never forget'. So instead of a name Fubo Yuko it could mean, 'Never forget Yuko', the brave child. ??? John BTW, Neat netsuke. That is one mean looking critter climbing onto the top of the skull. J Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted May 5, 2010 Author Report Posted May 5, 2010 Thanks John. Just inquiring for a friend in need! Quote
