Hi John, nice to hear from you. Yes indeed I think it did come from you and yes it is Shoki. Really fine kozuka but maybe time to move on again. Can’t quite make up my mind!

Hi Colin,

Yes, it's the same one that Jean posted - for some reason I couldn't get that picture on my phone last night. I had it down as "Taryusai Yoshiyuki" Haynes reference H 12344.0

This explains why I have never really bothered about Mei but instead tried to concentrate on quality!!🙂

 I went with mine because of the comment in Haynes about the stylised “ta” kanji - but the “Denryusai” one sounds more prestigious in terms of lineage…

Either way …..I’m enjoying going back through those nice pieces that came from you John. You don’t see many of this quality nowadays except maybe Bonhams ….and they have relocated to Paris. UK is a bit of a wasteland, sadly.

Either reading of ‘Ta’ or ‘Den’ would be forgiven, but in my Kokin Kinko Zenshu it lists him as ‘Den’, as you can see with the names alongside in Japanese ‘alphabetical’ order. (+Alternative simplified dragon kanji)
