Thekirsh Posted March 25, 2010 Report Posted March 25, 2010 Hi everyone I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on this sword I recently purchased. Possible school? It is mumei, has a very distinctive hada and is I believe made during WW2. Hamon is a wide ara-suguha Found in average gunto fittings with a nagasa of 26 3/4 " Thanks Simon Quote

David Flynn Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 Due to the prolific production of swords during WW11 defining Which smith made a mumei blade is quite difficult. This is one of the reasons, mumei Gendaito wont recieve Kanteisho. Quote
huntershooter Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 David; I've a mumei Gendaito attributed to (Tesshudojin) AkiMitsu by NTHK with Kanteisho papers. He was a student of Kurihara AkiHide at Nihonto Tanren Denshusho and a Rikugun Jumei Tosho. Quote
David Flynn Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 I'm suprised. I was under the impression that mumei gendai wouldn't paper. Would you mind telling me it this was the NTHK, NPO or Yoshikawa group? Quote
Thekirsh Posted March 27, 2010 Author Report Posted March 27, 2010 Thanks for the replies Some more photos Simon Quote

Stephen Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 Simon I think a few of us would like to see the nakago. Quote
Thekirsh Posted March 27, 2010 Author Report Posted March 27, 2010 Hey Stephen, Here's a shot of the nakago using flash this time. It shows very little oxidization which has me wondering. The yasurime is Takanoha. Simon Quote
huntershooter Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 AkiMitsu origami is by NTHK NPO. Quote
David Flynn Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 I think the NPO may be the only one. Anyone else had a mumei Showa period sword pass Shinsa? Quote
