Morning everybody, I am looking for a reputable and properly qualified  polisher here in UK. I have a Katana which, in the past, has not been stored properly and, consequuently has suffered somewhat.

It  would be nice to be able to meet face to face for an assessmeent.  I live in Hemel hempstead, so south of England would  be perfect.

Do such skills exist in England ?  All thoughts welcome.

Thx Piers. I am sure you are right in saying they will be busy, but who are they, and where are they.?

I would like to make contact. surely that can do no harm ?

Hi Nick

The polisher in question is on holiday right now for two weeks , and when he comes back we are off to Japan together for ten days .

And before all the comments come in about trained Japanese sword polishers  , as far as in know he is the only one in the UK with an NBTHK approved accreditation certificate to polish Japanese swords .

Thx for joining in everybody, but I think  I'll sign off now. Things starting to get a llittle silly. I know I'm new, but I thought the members were supposed to help  each other. So far this sounds more like  a secret society,

Hold on a mo. Most people know but they probably haven’t yet seen this thread. I’ll have to go and look it up. It’s me old memory failing me. Don’t have things at the fingertips any more.

(Some time later)

Got it! Les Stewart.

Hi Nick,

Sorry, I can't help directly but if you drop the Token Society of GB a line they'll be able to put you in touch.

As another has said in this thread he is Les Stewart and he's a great bloke, I've had the pleasure of meeting him and he has done some work for me recently. If you check my profile I've posted recently about a wakizashi he put a window polish into that was, like yours, stored improperly.

I won't give his details as it's not for me to give them out but if you contact the token society of great britain they might be able to help you.
