Infinite_Wisdumb Posted July 21 Report Posted July 21 Usually I see these on the Seppa Dai what could these be? Looks like “J9” Quote
ROKUJURO Posted July 21 Report Posted July 21 JM (please sign all posts with a first name plus an initial so we could address you politely), the photo is completely out of focus so nothing can be seen. 1 Quote
Spartancrest Posted July 22 Report Posted July 22 Jesse, it does look like J9 - But the J may be an E or F written in perhaps an old German font? Strange place to put a museum catalogue number but the seppa-dai is probably too rough of a flat area? Do you know where the guard came from? You did well to bring the image out as much as you did from the original image it looks almost invisible or a bit of rust. Quote
MauroP Posted July 22 Report Posted July 22 The problem is not in the tsuba.... it's in our brain. Pareidolia is the tendency of human mind to give meaningful interpretation of a visual input. That's my opinion. 1 Quote

Infinite_Wisdumb Posted July 22 Author Report Posted July 22 Hi Dale @Spartancrest I bought it off of angeloch some time back here on the forum. I think they said the tsuba was a gift? The one in your picture with the orange fabric background looks like it is mine Quote
