Bruce Pennington Posted Wednesday at 08:20 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 08:20 PM Excellent! Rare to see bonji on a gunto blade. Any estimate of a date range? 1 Quote

The Takada school apparently used Taira on mei during the koto period and Fujiwara during the shinto. There was a Taira Takada Sadamori active from 1520. Might be a later generation closer to the end of the 16th c perhaps, but mei for them are almost non existant. 1 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted Wednesday at 10:35 PM Report Posted Wednesday at 10:35 PM SUGATA and NAKAGO condition point to KANBUN era in my opinion. 1 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted yesterday at 12:16 AM Report Posted yesterday at 12:16 AM Agree with Jean, it has all the hallmarks of Shinto Takada. The Bonji is a nice touch, it appears it was always meant to be under the Tsuka. 1 Quote
David Flynn Posted yesterday at 01:54 AM Report Posted yesterday at 01:54 AM Sugata, could be Momoyama. Quote

In hand the nakago is much darker patinated, had to use flash on the pics to make the mei more legible. Quote
