Thank you cluckdaddy 76 as well for the picture. I also did find this itomaki gata style tsuba on this Aoi Art Wakizashi. ROKUJURO Posted 23 hours ago Report Posted 23 hours ago Barrett, I wonder if the above TSUBA shape would really be called ITOMAKI-GATA. In my imagination, it is more like "4 FUJI SAN" or "4 mountains", but I don't know. Looking forward to hearing the opinions of more knowledgeable members! 2 Quote
Barrett Hiebert Posted 12 hours ago Author Report Posted 12 hours ago Jean, I don't know either. I am not familiar with Fuji San style tsuba. (Shrugs). Barrett Quote
Barrett Hiebert Posted 4 hours ago Author Report Posted 4 hours ago Jean, That makes sense. Thank you for the picture. Best regards, Barrett Hiebert Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted 3 hours ago Report Posted 3 hours ago Reminds me of this ‘bamboo’ netsuke (made of ivory) with the Fushi joint in the design of Mt Fuji. I think this is a wordplay on Fushi and Fuji, talismanic, Fuji (不死 Fushi) meaning ‘eternal life’. Quote
