Scogg Posted December 19, 2024 Report Posted December 19, 2024 After seeing this Tsuba shared in another thread, I knew I had to have it. I consider it a holiday gift to myself Sukakashi Tsuba, Akasaka school with Myoga motif. Unusual “S” shape, that was proposed may be an S hook for a kettle. Anyway, this is a permanent addition to my collection because I like it so much. Sharing just for show-and-tell. Cheers, -Sam 8 Quote
Scogg Posted December 20, 2024 Author Report Posted December 20, 2024 Thank Brian! It's no museum level piece, but I am quite fond of it. It's the first Akasaka tsuba in my collection. Great color, thickness, and weight - but there's still quite a bit of red rust scattered around. I couldn't buy a sword for myself this holiday, so I think this is a good compromise (checks wife's expression) . Cheers and hope you're feeling better, -Sam Quote
Steve Waszak Posted December 20, 2024 Report Posted December 20, 2024 Strong piece, Sam. Congrats. 1 Quote
Scogg Posted August 2 Author Report Posted August 2 Found some S motif tsuba at the 25’ SF sword show. One listed as a bracken plant, which I think is interesting. It’s also a little more elongated than the other examples. Interesting shape that I don’t see depicted very often. -Sam 2 1 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted August 2 Report Posted August 2 I think the decoration was meant to be $, but to make the work easier, they left the vertical strokes out. 1 2 Quote
