Itomagoi Posted March 10, 2024 Author Report Posted March 10, 2024 柳河 住 久弘 作 Is this writing method for Hisahiro 久弘 also possible? Can anyone help me find the blacksmith? Quote
oli Posted March 10, 2024 Report Posted March 10, 2024 Maybe HISAHIRO (久広), 1st gen., Bunkyū (文久, 1861-1864), Chikugo – “Chikugo Yanagawa-jū Hisahiro” (筑後柳川住 久広), “Shinano no Kami Fujiwara Hisahiro” (信濃守藤原久広), “Yanagawa-jū Hisahiro” (柳川住久広), student of Munehiro (宗広), family name Mutō (武藤), Shinano no Kami Hisahiro had three sons who all signed with Hisahiro, his oldest son succeeded as 2nd gen. Itomagoi Posted June 15, 2024 Author Report Posted June 15, 2024 Hello, once again on this mei. It is not possible to find out which hisahiro it is. An unlisted smith or alternate name used by someone else. But maybe the usual user @Nobody @SteveM @k morita @Ray Singer can help me to translate the first two kanji. 柳川 住久弘作 Yanagawa Ju Hisahiro Saku or 摂州住久弘作 Sesshu Ju Hisahiro Saku Thank you in advice. 2 Quote
k morita Posted June 15, 2024 Report Posted June 15, 2024 Yes, 柳河住久広作 (Yanagawa-ju Hisahiro saku). Date is 慶應三年八月日 (August of the 3rd year of Keio period (1867)). 2 1 Quote
Itomagoi Posted June 16, 2024 Author Report Posted June 16, 2024 Hi, thank you very much for your translation. That would imply that as oli posted above it is the 1st gen. or 2nd gen. Muto Hisahiro could be. But this mei, and please correct me if I'm wrong, is not hisahiro (久広) but hisahiro (久弘). So it can't be the muto smiths. I have attached the registration card. Maybe it will help, maybe not. Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted June 16, 2024 Report Posted June 16, 2024 Morita San is correct. On the card is written the older Kanji form hiro 廣, which is simplified on the nakago to hiro 広. 1 Quote
Itomagoi Posted June 16, 2024 Author Report Posted June 16, 2024 And none of the muto hisahiro signed in sosho style. 1 Quote
Itomagoi Posted June 16, 2024 Author Report Posted June 16, 2024 Thank you, Piers. But it is still a mystery for me. Quote
