Swords Posted March 7, 2024 Report Posted March 7, 2024 Noshu Seki WW2 Japanese sword ju Ichimonji Minamoto Amahide kore wo kitaeru” I want to get other opinions of this sword according to the sellers info There is no visible hamon ? I researched other Amahide swords and found that wasn’t the case See the information I posted The description and another so called experts view Quote
nulldevice Posted March 7, 2024 Report Posted March 7, 2024 The part about the hamon sounds like rubbish to me and although I don't know much, the way the seller describes the sword tells me he doesn't know much about what he is selling and trying to make the sword be something bigger than it actually might be. 90% fluff 10% information and that makes me question anything the seller says and only look at the photos. There is quite a following for Amahide swords and there are many posts on here about them. Amahide.pdf Another post referencing Amahide Quote
John C Posted March 8, 2024 Report Posted March 8, 2024 Steve: Agree with Chandler that the description is too much salesmanship. "the secret of the sword"????? In addition, it appears in the last picture that the nakago has been cleaned but could be lighting. If so, that's another red flag. Also, they mention an inscription on the tsuba? Did they show it?? PNSSHOGUN Posted March 8, 2024 Report Posted March 8, 2024 The situation in Seattle must be very grim if such "samari experts" are walking free on the streets. 3 Quote
Scogg Posted March 8, 2024 Report Posted March 8, 2024 According to the seller info, it does have a hamon - it just “isn’t highly visible”. Hoso seguha is a very narrow and straight hamon pattern. Although I cannot see it in the photos. From what I can see, that is not a particularly rare ww2 tsuba like the seller suggests. The blade appears to be in standard type 98 fittings. With an engraved habaki which is a little fancy if it’s nice... But I can’t see it clearly. Lots of red flags in the overly romantic description, and really poor photos, and probably poor polish. I’d stay away from this one personally -Sam Quote
