Hi guys

Just wanted to hear back from Australian sellers here . I'm having a hard time sending a sword to USA from downunder.  dhl have already rejected it calling it a "weapon " . Australia POST accepts packages only up to 105cm long (41.3 inches) . The only real option left is UPS . Any advice? I have heard many bad things about UPS, and prefer to avoid them if I can help it .

Cheers

G'day Jeremy,

I haven't sent any swords from Australia by UPS, but I have received several from the UK recently with no problems.

Cheers,

Hi Jeremy

Never tried to send a sword to the USA or Canada or UK. Have heard that there is an increase in parcel theft in the USA so be very careful of insurance etc when you find a suitable courier or postal service.

cheers

Hello Jeremy,

I have only sent a 95 Saya to the US with no probs.  Have also received a few from US without any issue and two labelled "Barbeque Cutlery".

You could consider 'breaking' the sword down so as to reduce the overall length and then just send via AustPost  :)  Just pack it securely and that's easy these days with hard cylinders and bubble wrap (keep it tight!)

I have received one from Japan, disassembled, because of a similar issue but it was longer than your average bear.  Well packaged, all good.

That's exactly what I have gone ahead and done. One hard tubing with the bare blade bolted onto a hard wood backing through the mekugi Ana and bubble wrapped,  and and the rest of the koshirae and saya in another box. It'll go through Australia post.

Fingers crossed it gets to Florida in good shape !

Its more the getting the value and customs tariffs correct.

I had a tanto returned 3 times and a gendai returned from Japan once thats it.
