Hello there,

I am trying to research the Showa smith Yakuma Masakiyo (civilian name amatsu tomita). Does anyone know from which lineage he came. In other words, who trained him. I know he was Rikugun Jumei Tosho, I know he was head swordsmith for the Izumi Seiko, but I cannot find information on who trained him. Thanks in advance

MASAKIYO (正清):   Shimane – “Masakiyo” (正清), real name Amatsu Tomita (天津富太), born 1884. He worked as rikugun-jumei-tōshō, in 1942 Banzuke ranked as kibin no retsu (Akihide).  In 1941 exhibition ranked First Seat ( (6th Shinsaku Nihontō Denrankai)(新作日本刀展覧会, 1941).  From Yakumo village in Shimane.   Oshigata from Slough.  Note @k morita for teachers.

Hi,
According to [Gendai toko, kinko, shokugata soran]on page 108,His teachers are his father and Kurihara Akihide (昭秀).

BTW Moritasan, Edokko, over at Gunboards, said to say Hello!  We were discussing a Mantetsu and I was explaining the fabulous book you found with the quote from a shool girl who had polished some blades, listing the serial numbers.

Morita san, is the romanji ローマ字 below incorrect?
