Bruce Pennington Posted July 29, 2022 Report Posted July 29, 2022 Piotr, You didn’t show the full tang. Are there any stamps on it or stamped numbers? Quote
piotr67ce Posted July 30, 2022 Author Report Posted July 30, 2022 Corrected, now ful size images. I can't find anything else here, is it good or bad? There is serial number on tsuba, and the same numbers on seppa. What you think? 1 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted July 30, 2022 Report Posted July 30, 2022 Works by Teruhide are regarded as Gendaito and he didn't seem to make a habit of dating his work. So nothing to be worried about, you have a nice Gendai sword, even better if the mounts are in good shape as well. Quote
robinalexander Posted July 31, 2022 Report Posted July 31, 2022 Hi Piotr, I know that many other NMB members have them but for your interest and comparison here are pics of your TERUHIDE Ishido mei followed by my own. No date or stamps on mine either. Rob Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted July 31, 2022 Report Posted July 31, 2022 Lack of stamps on the nakago most likely means he made/sold this to a private sword shop. Lack of stamping can also help indicate the blade could be gendaito. Not conclusive proof, by itself, but adds to the evidence. Quote
piotr67ce Posted July 31, 2022 Author Report Posted July 31, 2022 Thanks guys, it was usefull. Do you think it is worth to send it to NTHK for appraisal? Quote
MarcoUdin Posted July 31, 2022 Report Posted July 31, 2022 No need, it's fine as is and would be a waste of money in my own honest opinion. And no worries if it being gimei Quote
