drbvac Posted April 22, 2009 Report Posted April 22, 2009 http://www.bonhams.com/cgi-bin/public.s ... leNo=16788 There are some really nice pieces for sale here as well. IF you check out the results from the last sale there were some bargains. Wonder how much hassle it is to bid on-line Quote
DirkO Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 Don't forget the auction-premium you have to pay Quote
Hermes Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 Don't forget about the shipping as well, i would ask before i bid, could be as much as $200 for a signal item if i remember correctly from past auctions? BTW i agree some really nice pieces for sale for sure. Quote
Brian Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 Yeah..but the estimates on this one are not nearly as "inviting" as the last one. Sounds like Peter got ripped on shipping too. Why must they do that?? That was for local shipping too? Brian Quote
pcfarrar Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 Sounds like Peter got ripped on shipping too. Why must they do that?? That was for local shipping too? £115 for shipping within the UK, it must be a fortune if you want to send abroad. Bonhams were superb to deal with, couldn't fault them all. Quote
John A Stuart Posted April 23, 2009 Report Posted April 23, 2009 Not out of line for shipping. Auction houses use 3rd party shippers and in most cases the buyer has to contract a shipper to pick up, package, insure and ship the item. Add to this the time factor. The auction house will not store indefinitely. The shipper is there to make his money also. What burns me, is when they ship it in those triangular boxes with no wrapping just a few styro popcorn pieces. John Quote
