Guido Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 Nice try, Stephen, but the powers that rule in the worker's paradise I'm living at now blocked yet again youtube for the last couple of weeks due to some unfavorable video clips regarding Tibet. I liked your former tag line about freedom much better, no happy trails here ... :x I'm not trying to start a heated discussion on politics or freedom of speech, just venting my frustrations. People have no real understanding of what it means to voice any opinion whenever you feel like it until that basic right is withheld from you. Sometimes it really sucks living here. Quote
Ford Hallam Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 So I shouldn't use a little Tibetan flag I have in my studio to wrap your habaki then Quote
Guido Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 So I shouldn't use a little Tibetan flag I have in my studio to wrap your habaki then Absolutely, I always wanted to become a persona non grata ... Quote
Clive Sinclaire Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 Guido old boy I was tempted to saying something about your persona non-grata staus, but another time maybe. I hope your lovely wife is OK. Clive Quote
Brian Posted April 16, 2009 Report Posted April 16, 2009 Guido, So what you are saying is that your status there probably has your emails monitored..which leads them here. And since we support Japan, I am sure we are now all on some sinister watch list in China There are other video sites out there. Break.com? Fileshare etc etc. If you want to check a few of them and find one that is reliable and fast, I am sure we can get someone with fast bandwidth to upload any videos there that are of interest. Heck...you think your country has a problem with Tibet? It is SA that recently refused the Dalai Lama a visa to visit here for the peace conference. You should see what a stink that has caused. Seems China pulls our strings here too. Govt is sticking to their guns too. Brian Quote
Guido Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 I hope your lovely wife is OK.Sure, we're still happily married and share everything - sharing our live means I'm married, and she's happy. Quote
Guido Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 ... and finally an overdue apology to Stephen: sorry for hijacking your thread! Quote
Stephen Posted April 17, 2009 Author Report Posted April 17, 2009 I really don't mind, what I do mind, being were off the subject is how totalitarian the whole world is becoming, just pray I'm still young enough to fight the good fight when it becomes necessary. BTW did anyone watch the making of the Gassan sword. Is the cream colored liquid a type of flux? Quote
John A Stuart Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 Hi Stephen, I think Sadatoshi san is using a borax in water solution as a flux. In the forge I attended it was in powdered form, but, that was after the billet had been already formed from the tamagahane in pieces after forging the sponge form. John Quote
Jacques Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 Hi, BTW did anyone watch the making of the Gassan sword. Is the cream colored liquid a type of flux? It is just a clay slurry applied to prevent overheating and oxidation. Quote
John A Stuart Posted April 17, 2009 Report Posted April 17, 2009 'to prevent overheating'? The metal has to reach high enough temperatures to forge weld the pieces. White hot. Why would there be a need to prevent overheating at this stage? John Quote
