Good afternoon,

just looking for some knowledge on this Wakizashi - can anyone give thoughts on blade?  I have a video but it’s too large to upload - did the best I could.  There are no markings on nakago that I can see.  Cheers!   Nate

“Nice file work”

Nate, that’s one of the worst nakago I have seen. Wavy shinogi, flattened nakago. Upto a point I would have said the hardest word  “Chinese”…

Here are nice file marks:

Nate,

Bad news. Someone wrecked this blade by taking an angle grinder to the tang, presumably to make it fit the koshirae. Sorry, but someone wrecked what might have been a decent blade - Jean is bang on the money.

Hope you didn’t pay too much for it - others can comment on the fittings as they’re not my province. Sorry mate, but you’re not the first one to have a rough intro to Japanese swords.

Sadly it happens. Trying to make a sword 'more desirable' to collectors by ruining art. In the end it's not going to impress either. Fittings are okay, but without a blade that actually fits, nothing special.
