NateS Posted April 26, 2022 Report Posted April 26, 2022 Good afternoon, just looking for some knowledge on this Wakizashi - can anyone give thoughts on blade? I have a video but it’s too large to upload - did the best I could. There are no markings on nakago that I can see. Cheers! Nate 1 Quote

Jean Posted April 26, 2022 Report Posted April 26, 2022 “Nice file work” Nate, that’s one of the worst nakago I have seen. Wavy shinogi, flattened nakago. Upto a point I would have said the hardest word “Chinese”… Here are nice file marks: 1 Quote
WulinRuilong Posted April 26, 2022 Report Posted April 26, 2022 I agree with Jean. This is a very poor-quality sword. Quote
Shugyosha Posted April 26, 2022 Report Posted April 26, 2022 Nate, Bad news. Someone wrecked this blade by taking an angle grinder to the tang, presumably to make it fit the koshirae. Sorry, but someone wrecked what might have been a decent blade - Jean is bang on the money. Hope you didn’t pay too much for it - others can comment on the fittings as they’re not my province. Sorry mate, but you’re not the first one to have a rough intro to Japanese swords. Quote
Shamsy Posted April 26, 2022 Report Posted April 26, 2022 Sadly it happens. Trying to make a sword 'more desirable' to collectors by ruining art. In the end it's not going to impress either. Fittings are okay, but without a blade that actually fits, nothing special. 1 Quote
