Itomagoi Posted April 17, 2022 Report Posted April 17, 2022 Hello, I would like to ask you if this course of the Hamon to the Boshi has a special name. Maybe someone of you can show me more examples. Quote
Rivkin Posted April 17, 2022 Report Posted April 17, 2022 I don't think it follows the line exactly like that, but yes. Typically - Shinto. One can even try calling it Mishina boshi, but its not too reliable. Just a thought. Quote
Itomagoi Posted April 17, 2022 Author Report Posted April 17, 2022 It is not easy to photograph. I have never seen this "sudden drop" of Hamon just before the Yokote. Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted April 17, 2022 Report Posted April 17, 2022 This should answer your questions: https://markussesko.com/2015/06/10/kantei-3-hamon-boshi-3/ One quick note is that when the hamon changes abruptly at the boshi, the blade is Shinto or more recent. Also, what happened to the tip of your blade? Quote
Rivkin Posted April 18, 2022 Report Posted April 18, 2022 Agh, I see what you mean. No its not Mishina boshi for certain with the new pictures, I don't remember at the top of my head who specifically changed to sugu-boshi like that - it is unusual I agree. Quote
ChrisW Posted April 18, 2022 Report Posted April 18, 2022 Looks like it was poked into something and the tip snapped off! My condolences. Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted April 18, 2022 Report Posted April 18, 2022 Was this blade casually used for stoking a fire, I wonder? 1 1 Quote
Itomagoi Posted April 18, 2022 Author Report Posted April 18, 2022 Thanks for the link, Ken. I have read that of course. I would have thought that there is a name when the Hamon before Yokote suddenly changes the line such as "Yakidashi" the start of the Hamon at Hamachi. But not everything always has to have a name. Yes, it is very sad about the Kissaki. This blade is a Gendaito of Hiromasa 1943. Quote
