jsv Posted March 7, 2022 Report Posted March 7, 2022 When I bought this sword I thougt the mei was Sukesada but now I think it looks more like Kaneie, its a bit blurry at the end, what do you think? The year look like Keian ( 慶安) to me but dont know for sure. Quote
Ray Singer Posted March 7, 2022 Report Posted March 7, 2022 Seems closer to Nariie. 備州長船成家. I am not sure though. 1 Quote
SteveM Posted March 7, 2022 Report Posted March 7, 2022 Year is 應安四年 (the four is written as 二二). I can't read the bit after that. It looks a bit suspicious. Quote
uwe Posted March 7, 2022 Report Posted March 7, 2022 Guess the rest is simply “ニ月” (February)?! 1 Quote

SteveM Posted March 7, 2022 Report Posted March 7, 2022 Yes, Uwe - you are right. 二月 (nigatsu). For some reason I was thinking it was more complicated than that. 1 Quote
jsv Posted March 7, 2022 Author Report Posted March 7, 2022 I found this 応安 (Oan) at the JSSUS homepage and looks to be same as the 應安. 1368 seems way to early for this blade so I guess its a gimei. Anyway, thank you all for your help. 1 Quote
