0Takeda0 Posted December 9, 2021 Report Posted December 9, 2021 Arisaka with straight gaurd, blued blade, Matsushita Kinzoku Markings I'm wanting to learn more about these bayonets. I'm also wondering if this one is genuine, and if so, what year it was probably made. I know very little about bayonets, and any information would be appreciated Quote
robinalexander Posted December 10, 2021 Report Posted December 10, 2021 Hi Darius, saw you post yesterday and it was still in my inbox today and I note there are no replies. I will take a wild guess and say the reason for that is that this is primarily a Nihonto sword forum as distinct from bayonets. While I'm sure some NMB members would have touched on bayonets over the years, there would be more appropriate forums, specific to bayonets, with members who have the interest and expertise to answer your questions. I'm not speaking on behalf of the NMB, its just my view and if I am wrong...I will hear about it soon enough All the best Rob 2 Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted December 10, 2021 Report Posted December 10, 2021 Robin is right, better off asking on one of the other militaria specific forums: https://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/forum/ken-jasper-international-militaria-forums/Japanese-militaria-forum https://www.warrelics.eu/forum/Japanese-militaria/ 1 Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted December 10, 2021 Report Posted December 10, 2021 You can search this forum, though, for some good tips on how to get that old cosmoline off. Just search "remove cosmoline" or click HERE. 1 Quote

Kiipu Posted December 10, 2021 Report Posted December 10, 2021 I see nothing wrong with your bayonet other than it needs a good cleaning. The bayonet is a JB-59 made by Matsushita Metal Co., Ltd., 松下金属株式會社. It would have been made sometime between 1939 and 1944. There are two books on the topic of Japanese bayonets and they are both listed on the bibliography page. Bibliography of Japanese Modern Edged Weapons, 1868-1945 2 Quote
