IJASWORDS Posted October 20, 2020 Report Posted October 20, 2020 Years ago, I bought this wakizashi as a learning piece for my grandson to gain an interest in nihonto. It has every feature that made it a great starter for a beginner..... Old signed Ubu blade with visible features, Saya with Kurikata, pockets for Kogai and Kogatana, a WW2 hanger, old 2 piece Habaki, and all the fittings complete. I imagined him sitting down with his Kanji book, and sword features book, gaining an interest, so that one day he may take over my collection. NOPE!!! His mother (my daughter) totally canned the idea. So is is for sale, USD 300, plus post. A bargain, sold as is, and hopefully goes to another budding collector, maybe a fantastic Christmas present. 8 1 Quote
Ray Singer Posted October 20, 2020 Report Posted October 20, 2020 Nice offer. This should sell almost instantly. Likewise hope we can see it go to someone starting out, and get them inspired to study and continue collecting. 1 Quote
IJASWORDS Posted October 20, 2020 Author Report Posted October 20, 2020 Thanks Ray, only wish it was my grandson. 1 Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted October 20, 2020 Report Posted October 20, 2020 Neil, there seems to be a little bitterness in there. Is your daughter so strong? Is there no way...? Quote
IJASWORDS Posted October 20, 2020 Author Report Posted October 20, 2020 Piers, good question, no bitterness, she sees swords as weapons not collectables. I asked one last time yesterday, when I said I will sell it if Bailey can't have it. She said sell it, and put the money in his bank account..... No way. Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted October 20, 2020 Report Posted October 20, 2020 All’s well that ends well, and I am sure that the old proverb will prove true once again. “Where there’s a will there’s a Way” (Slightly Samuraized) Quote
kolhoznik Posted October 20, 2020 Report Posted October 20, 2020 Seconds please if the sale falls through. Quote
MHC Posted October 20, 2020 Report Posted October 20, 2020 Well rats!!! I'd of bought that in a heart beat....please make me #3 if the other 2 in line fall short. Mark 1 Quote
ChrisW Posted October 20, 2020 Report Posted October 20, 2020 Its sad when people cannot see past their prejudices to what lay beyond. Art is art, no matter the format. 2 Quote
LLagrange Posted October 23, 2020 Report Posted October 23, 2020 Damn I missed it. And yes Chris art is art. I see no point in dismissing any item simply because it is a "weapon", especially considering that literally anything can be a weapon if you try hard enough. I have gotten enough weird looks and comments for having a crap ton of knives around that I am more than familiar with prejudice of this kind. Great blade, and I have to say good on you for being willing to part with something for such an incredible deal to help out someone starting out. It has been one of the things that has really stuck out to me about the people here, willing to help and share knowledge. So thank you for that. Quote
