Kyo Sukashi or Akasaka pole? + plug for Grey Doffin

This tsuba was recently posted on a Japanese site I follow for some of its Higo offerings:

Price is 100,000 yen and relatively new NBTHK papers to Kyo-Sukashi

 

Very very similar tsuba on Grey's site for $225

I recommend Grey. My last tsuba was from him and a good bargain compared to Japan price.]

I've seen 3 or 4 of this design over the years and generally thought of them as Akasaka works.

I vaguely recall the startpoint for that notion was one in one of Sasano's publications.

Grey has got some lovely stuff available at the moment.

 

I guess if you like both tsuba equally then it might be an obvious choice, but do you think both are of equal quality?

I fixed the links. Insomnia posting at 4am resulted in typos and a bad link.

 

To me, they are about of equal quality. Grey's could use with horse hair brush and handling TLC, whereas the other Kyo-sukashi one looks like someone over ivory/boned it.

To be controversial the one in Grey's website although similar is not as good quality and it's also in a much different state of preservation.

I think we are looking at chalk and cheese but on a very fine level of appreciation.

Here is one that I sold in Atlanta this March. Papered to Kyo Sukashi (Momoyama).

So, that's my vote.
