Krystian Posted May 19, 2020 Report Posted May 19, 2020 Hello, Here are few tsuba pictures from my new photo set up. I am still working on 3D effect but I hope that I was able to show real color of iron. If you see something I could improve please let me know. Regards, Krystian 8 Quote
Rich S Posted May 19, 2020 Report Posted May 19, 2020 Krystian All nice tsuba. I especially like the first one. What school or maker is it? Rich Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted May 19, 2020 Report Posted May 19, 2020 Krystian, when I need color accuracy, I include an 18% gray card in the image. I also use that card to set my camera's white balance (https://www.digitalphotomentor.com/how-to-use-a-gray-card-for-custom-white-balance-and-metering/) 2 Quote

I also use that card to set my camera's white balance (https://www.digitalphotomentor.com/how-to-use-a-gray-card-for-custom-white-balance-and-metering/) Ken, You have to be careful with that. Some gray cards are actually color neutral, but a lot of them aren't - they are meant to to set exposure level, not white balance (been there, done that, its a problem...). you actually need either a white card or specific white balance/other target that is actually neutral to set the camera's white balance with. (often a sheet of decent white paper will get you closer than a gray card). though there are a great many white balance targets out there, here's the couple I normally use (no amazon associates link if you care): https://smile.amazon.com/Adorama-QpCard-Balance-Digital-Cameras/dp/B0002K6F66/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=QpCARD&qid=1589988062&sr=8-1 https://smile.amazon.com/ColorChecker-Passport-Photo-2-MSCCPP-B/dp/B07PNCPZ8G/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=xrite+color+checker+passport&qid=1589988234&sr=8-3 Best, rkg (RIchard George) 3 Quote
Ken-Hawaii Posted May 20, 2020 Report Posted May 20, 2020 Yes, true enough, but any 18% would get most shots fairly close. We're just picky. Quote
Krystian Posted May 20, 2020 Author Report Posted May 20, 2020 Thank you Ken, I will try to read about that and see how to use it. Could you share some pictures made with this 18% gray card? I will also check those cards on Amazon. Rich, in my opinion design of the first one is Kaneie School. Quote
