Darcy Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 I am finalizing the swords for the Soshu volume at this point. The current lineup looks like this: Ko-Hoki Sadatsuna (2) Sukezane Kunimune Shintogo Kunimitsu (maybe 2) Yukimitsu (4) Norishige (6) Go Yoshihiro (3) Hasebe Kunishige (2) Chogi Kanemitsu Naotsuna Shizu (1... I shot four Shizu, but I am going to defer 3 to the Mino volume) Sa Hiroyasu Sa Yukihiro Tametsugu (2) Kanenaga Masamitsu Sadatsuna (2) Takagi Sadamune Hiromasa (2) Tsunahiro Toshinaga Fuyuhiro Yasuhiro The cover sword is a Tokubetsu Juyo Go Yoshihiro, and the back cover sword is the Sukezane. Obviously the big gaping holes for the North American crowd are Masamune, Sadamune, Akihiro, Hiromitsu. Shintogo Kunihiro would also be very nice to shoot. I know where a Masamune and Kunihiro are but there is about -3000% chance that they will ever be photographed. Obviously if you know the same thing you know the owner and he's not likely to make them available. I'm putting out a plea for anyone who has, or knows someone, who has a sword by any of the five smiths above, to let it be made available for photography. I will come to the sword, or figure something out, to get it photographed. I do know there is an extra special Akihiro out there on the east coast but the word I got back is that it is in Japan. I am also interested in shooting any additional Soshu swords in particular to pad out the volume. It's representing what we have in North America and it would be super nice to be able to complete the main line. No Sadamune is probably my own damn fault too. Quote
b.hennick Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 I can hardly wait for the volume! You have got the Go now you need to photograph a ghost or 3 to go with them....I would be happy to start a pre-sale list. I am prepared to pre-pay as well. Keep up this great effort!! Quote
Brian Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 I'm also happy to pre-pay, and I think I would need about 7 copies for SA members...but this time I want mine signed Great work! Looking forward to it..and the ones after this. Will you be doing them through Lulu again? Brian Quote
DirkO Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 Yep I'd pre-order 3 as well :-) (for a free dedication on mine off course ) Quote
jrs Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 What other issues are available and from where? Quote
Brian Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 The first volume was on Bizen swords. See details and ordering info here: http://nihonto.ca/bizen-to/ The next one will be the one we are discussing, and then other volumes on Yamashiro etc. Great books, and well worth getting, with superb photography. jrs Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 Thanks Brian. I just ordered the Bizen volume. Looking forward to the others. James Quote
Thekirsh Posted August 19, 2008 Report Posted August 19, 2008 I would just like to give a big pat on the back to the guys at “Lulu†Recently our mail man decided the only way to fit my book in the mail box was to snap it in half first! I reported it to Lulu and had a quick response and a new book a week later. Simon Quote
Darcy Posted August 21, 2008 Author Report Posted August 21, 2008 Thanks for the sentiments for pre-pay... there's no need, plus there's no way I can receive them. The thought does count though. Bizen volume is down to bringing in a whopping $50/month of cold hard profits, so any anticipation of the next volumes helps keep me energized. Quote
