Lmotor Posted March 19, 2019 Report Posted March 19, 2019 Hello everyone, I wanted some expertise and more informations on a blade, at first glance it looks authentic for a neophyte like me but some details look strange, what do you think? Thanks. Laurent Quote
Lmotor Posted March 19, 2019 Author Report Posted March 19, 2019 it is a fake thank you Mark, for my education: kurigata positioning on the scabbard, odd stamping and numbers are the clues here ? Quote
Mark Posted March 19, 2019 Report Posted March 19, 2019 they made copper handles, aluminum painted handles, wood handles. no brass handles Quote
Bruce Pennington Posted March 19, 2019 Report Posted March 19, 2019 Ditto on all the above. Stamps are upside-down on the fuchi, wrong place on the blade. Brass is almost always a giveaway (though there are some oxidized Nagoya tsukas that have a brassy tint). They are getting better on that Gifu stamp, but not there yet. Quote
Shamsy Posted March 19, 2019 Report Posted March 19, 2019 Still awful. Typical Chinese sword from eBay Quote
Lmotor Posted March 19, 2019 Author Report Posted March 19, 2019 Thanks Mark, Steve and Bruce for your answers. I'm sad it's a fake but happy I didn't buy it! Laurent Quote
zook Posted March 19, 2019 Report Posted March 19, 2019 https://www.ebay.com/itm/WWII-Japanese-Samurai-Sword-NCO-WW2-World-War/223441977280?hash=item34062dffc0:g:LGwAAOSwbmFcg80Y A current comparison on the market - later variant and it looks like the blade has been abused significantly, but ... nice photos for stamp and serial number comparison Quote
