Kanga Posted March 8, 2019 Report Posted March 8, 2019 Can I have some comments about this sword please any idea about Hamon type or sword school would be great Thanks Geoff Quote
16k Posted March 8, 2019 Report Posted March 8, 2019 Maybe it's just me or the pictures, but it doesn't look right to me. Quote
Kanga Posted March 9, 2019 Author Report Posted March 9, 2019 Some better Photographs would like some feedback Thanks Geoff Quote
PNSSHOGUN Posted March 9, 2019 Report Posted March 9, 2019 Either a chinese fake or a poor quality original destroyed by acid etch. 2 Quote
IJASWORDS Posted March 9, 2019 Report Posted March 9, 2019 What school? A Chinese or Indian school. Quote
Geraint Posted March 9, 2019 Report Posted March 9, 2019 Dear Geoff. I am not entirely without hope that this may be Japanese but in its current condition and, with respect, rather gloomy photos asking for any attribution to a school is a non starter. The sword has had a hard time and taking good images is an art in itself. If you want a better guess then pictures of the tang might help but you don't mention a signature so I assume it is unsigned and even if this does turn out to be Japanese then it falls into the category where it is most unlikely to warrant restoration. Best option would be to show it to an experienced collector in hand, perhaps we have members in the Melbourne area who would be willing to have a look for you. All the best. Quote
Shugyosha Posted March 9, 2019 Report Posted March 9, 2019 I think it's genuine, but it's wrecked. In that condition it could be anything - the shape and condition of the tang might give a clue as to time frame if unsigned, but beyond that... Quote
IJASWORDS Posted March 9, 2019 Report Posted March 9, 2019 Could we see pictures of the tang before we jump to any false conclusions? Quote
Peter Bleed Posted March 9, 2019 Report Posted March 9, 2019 I agree with Neil et al. We gotta see the tang. The boshi looks like it must be "thin" at best. Peter Quote
16k Posted March 9, 2019 Report Posted March 9, 2019 That second set of pictures is clearly more encouraging, but we need to see that tang! Quote
