Stephen Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 i was wondering what T/T payment means bank wire? Receipt of money is T/T remittance only Quote
Brian Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 Telegraphic transfer, ie. bank wire transfer. They are an auction site, although I am not sure if they are run by a particular shop with one seller, or take items from many sellers. Brian Quote
Jean Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 Telegraphic transfer I still find this expression on nowadays commercial contracts, This method was in use 50 years ago but the expression has survived (as crocodiles have survived) Quote
Jacques Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 Hi, Telegraphic transfer I still find this expression on nowadays commercial contracts, This method was in use 50 years ago but the expression has survived (as crocodiles have survived) It's still in use, certainly the faster way for bank transfer (however a little bit expensive) Quote
Jean Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 Jacques wrote : It's still in use, certainly the faster way for bank transfer (however a little bit expensive) Telegraphic transfer is an old term coming from the age when banks had key operators and Telegraph was the best mean to transfer money. It changes 30 years ago with the birth of X25 lines, (securised lines for data transfer). It is seldom used, only in some remote countries not benefitting from electronic technologies. Of course it is not the fastest way. In fact, the term is also used to describe other electronic funds transfer methods and, incorrectly, BACS (Bankers Automated Clearing Services) and AFTS (Automated Funds Transfer System) payments. The must common TT we can see nowadays is Westen Union, much more expensive than BATS ansd AFTS. Bankers are using now the web through securised networks Quote
Brian Posted June 11, 2008 Report Posted June 11, 2008 Ok, no more on this subject please. But yes, all my suppliers at work ask for T/T (and actually mean electronic bank transfer instead) so it is still a common term, but used to mean something else nowdays. Now back to our regular Nihonto transmissions... Brian Quote
