Thank you Peter.

 

Having studied the Opium Wars at one time in my life I found this very interesting indeed.  It is far less sanitised than the history book my course at the time was using, sticking in the main to "the facts ma'am, just the facts".

That was a good read, able to color in from 3 perspectives.

Given the On Air of the Korean show "Mr. Sunshine", wife and I have read up recently on the history of the USA gunboat incursions into Korea after the moved against China and Japan.

Reading the 1800s perspectives of both sides is decent reading.
