TheGermanBastard Posted March 29, 2018 Report Posted March 29, 2018 Hello, I am totally uneducated in this field and would hence appreciate some oppinions please. Do you think these two figures are Japanese made? I am somewhat doubtfull. The Kanji do not look Japanese nor does the designwork on the clothing like the carp on wheels ... and teh whole movement looks more like some kind for drunken master disco fox. I think it could also be antique Chinese work from 1900+ ? Thank you for your thoughts, Luis 1 Quote
SteveM Posted March 29, 2018 Report Posted March 29, 2018 The kanji look OK to me... 火之用心 (hi-no-yōjin) "beware of fire". So this is the bag of a night-watchman, one of the neighborhood men who walk at night reminding people to put out their fires. The fish (snapper, I think) in the wagon, the trumpet, and the thing on the bottom of the haori look like children's toys. I would have no reason to suspect this is Chinese-made. It have no reason to doubt it was made in Japan, but I too am not an expert in these things. 1 Quote
John A Stuart Posted March 29, 2018 Report Posted March 29, 2018 Everything about this screams Japanese to me from the chomage to the style of dress. Cold painted bronzes are very appealing to me. John 1 Quote
TETSUGENDO Posted March 29, 2018 Report Posted March 29, 2018 Although your figures are not MIYAO quality they are absolutely genuine Japanese figures. They are lower end products as to techniques and materials used in their making, date of manufacture would be later Meiji to Taisho. Cheers, 1 Quote
