Guest Rayhan Posted January 6, 2018 Report Posted January 6, 2018 Hi Ladies and Gents I would like to know how OHada affects the value and indeed aesthetic of a sword please? Just opinions on how you react and view this feature. Best Regards Rayhan Quote
b.hennick Posted January 6, 2018 Report Posted January 6, 2018 Hi Rayhan: Like most things people like different things. Some love o hada others do not. I find hada one of the most appealing things about swords. Good o hada is wonderful to look at. Poor o hada awful. I can say the same for Hizen hada, masame hada etc. Look at good examples is the best advice I can give. Some would call matsukawa hada (Norishige) o hada. I love his hada... 2 Quote
Brian Posted January 6, 2018 Report Posted January 6, 2018 I think I am more influenced by hard or soft hada. That wet look of a proper polish combined with well done hada does it for me. Hard, "dry" looking hada turns me off.O-hada is not as coveted as a nice tight hada imho though, if I have to make a choice. 1 Quote
John A Stuart Posted January 6, 2018 Report Posted January 6, 2018 I prefer a tighter hada, but, if it is occasional adds character especially if the smith is known for it. If too coarse all it makes me think is that it was forged quickly with less care. So, it is subjective to criteria. John Quote
