Hi guys,

was just doing some light reading while watching my 16 month girl distroy the "just" cleaned kitchen. (not important)

and I read that soshu was the last of the 5 koto traditions to develop!!!

I was always of the understanding that Mino was.

whats the facts please

Well';

    Kind of a crazy comparison; so much difference in so many aspects !!

This post should really stir the sleeping giants.

Myself, from the basics: Mino is practical basic good war material, and more. Soshu is style, finesse, art, elegance, and a treasure to behold.

I love both in their own right, as well as the wonderful comparison, when you  hold both in hand to compare.

Is one better than the other ??  I don't know. I think the quality of their best is not a thing to say on sway or another.

I leave it up to others to voice their opinions.

Without talking about Gokaden tradition, Mino is the last main school as it is a mix of Soshu, via Shizu Kaneuji and Kinju, and of Yamato, mainly Tegai (but also Senju'in).

Being the last major tradition, Mino den genesis is not that simple as said. In fact we can't speak about Mino den before Muromachi.

Some reading like Nihon-Koto-shi by Honma Junji (translated by Markus) will be very instructive.
