Fuuten Posted June 15, 2017 Report Posted June 15, 2017 Hi everyone, Browsing aoi-art, i came across the following auction. The paper kind of made me raise an eyebrow, as the way its written seems illogical to me. I don't think i ever noticed the difference in writing and ink before on a paper like this one has. Maybe they prepare papers before hand and fill in parts later but i don't know. Seems like the difference in thickness of ink, hue etc seems perhaps suspicious? https://www.aoijapan.com/katana-higo-kami-kuniyasu-2 https://www.aoijapan.com/img/sword/2016/16556paper-1.jpg Hope to hear what you all think.. Kind regards, Axel edit: excuse the typo in the title Quote
Pete Klein Posted June 15, 2017 Report Posted June 15, 2017 Axel - all the papers are pre-printed and the salient information then filled in, even on old papers like this one. It would be a wasted effort to hand write each paper again and again where the basic information is always the same. BTW - Showa 37 is quite old and there might be some pigment loss due to age. 1 Quote
Fuuten Posted June 15, 2017 Author Report Posted June 15, 2017 Hi Pete, Thank you, the ink seems a little watery to me. So its nothing strange? I never really noticed the difference before. Quote
Bugyotsuji Posted June 16, 2017 Report Posted June 16, 2017 Aoi: "This sword belongs to ranking." ...something missing? The calligraphy looks well done (to my untrained eye), ie nothing to worry about. BTW, I have a spear with the same kind of Tokubetsu Kicho paperwork signed by the first NBTHK president Hosokawa Moritatsu (1883~1970). Before Honma Junji. https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E7%B4%B0%E5%B7%9D%E8%AD%B7%E7%AB%8B 1 Quote
