Hello,

I saw this sword online. The blade looks fine, but I have my doubts when I get to the nakago. Can anyone identify this signature, please?

This other looks fishy, but I'm curious what the mei is supposed to be. Is it actually a swordsmith name?

Thank you, Mark.

I'm only just getting into Japanese culture myself, but isn't Yoshisada a first name? Or is there a Yoshisada family name too?

It's the smith's art name or a work name - the name he uses professionally to sign his work. It might be linked to his family name but more usually to that of his teacher - assuming gunto smiths use the same formula as more traditional smiths.

A sort of "stage name" then? I'll try to find some info on the name then. Thank you.

More suitable in this sub-group. John

Sorry about that :P I actually meant to post it in Translations... but this is fine too =D
