Curran Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Like the tsuba. If I am reading it correctly, that is quite the big name. The iron doesn't resemble what I know of his work, but it isn't like I have ever seen any of them in person. Quote
John A Stuart Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 I wonder if it is in fact Myouju. Maybe late Edo Akitoshi product. 明壽 I include a pic of something I covet immensely to have. John 1 Quote
ROKUJURO Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Ed,basically I like your TSUBA, especially the SUKASHI. In my eyes, the TEMBO-like dents detract from the beautiful (simple, but refined) design - looks as if someone shot at it with a TEPPO! Perhaps not typically MYOJU.... Quote
Ed Posted February 22, 2016 Author Report Posted February 22, 2016 Thanks guys. John, do you have a larger image of the mei on yours ? I have never seen an actual tsuba by Myoju, nor any really good photos of iron works. Let me ask this question, If it was yours would you gamble and submit it ti shinsa ???? I'll be in Tampa and have an extra ticket, kinda thinking about it ????????? Quote
John A Stuart Posted February 22, 2016 Report Posted February 22, 2016 Not mine Ed. I wish, one like it is my holy grail. One is published in a book I have, and is in fact on the dust cover, where it is rather large, and to my eye favours the mei on the other Myouju tsuba I posted. I'll post a pic of the cover. It should help. I think you will see a significant difference. John Quote
Ed Posted February 22, 2016 Author Report Posted February 22, 2016 John, Thanks for that. I have compared it to the examples in Wakayama's and get the same feeling. Curious as to what others thought. Quote
