ken kata Posted January 28, 2016 Report Posted January 28, 2016 Hello Forum ... Just was wondering , if this Wakizashi was formally a Katana Blade.. Looks beefy and the Hamon pattern (wavy at the Ha-machi ) seems to continue into the Nakago.. Yes, I'm still a newbie ,wannabe .. Mumei .... ? has no Mei on the Nakago.. Thanks for viewing.. Ray Singer Posted January 28, 2016 Report Posted January 28, 2016 Certainly appears to be osuriage. That is a very unnatural patina. I am referring especially to the sabi - giwa. The patination (and perhaps the osuriage itself) may be very recently done.Best regards,Ray Quote
Pika007 Posted January 28, 2016 Report Posted January 28, 2016 seen this one before. Beware- in closer pictures, the nakago seems to be welded back after being broken or cut incorrectly. Steer clear. 1 Quote
Alex A Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 Hard to say from just that one photo if it is O-surage or not. Hard to say if the hamon is ending at Hamachi? Nakago to me looks like its been coated with rust cure, but again that could just be the photo. Quote
Pika007 Posted January 29, 2016 Report Posted January 29, 2016 nope, not the photo. here are more- I don't want to start imagining what this wakizashi went through. Quote

ken kata Posted January 29, 2016 Author Report Posted January 29, 2016 Thanks for the replies guys.. As I looked at the photo again, maybe it is re welded .. I would never have dreamed that someone would do this. I did not even think of it being welded. And, I'm the fool who bought it.. ... Oh well, caught by my own ignorance. I wrote to the guy and told him , and that I am a fool to have bought it. Have a safe weekend everyone... Reply added later: Please know, I still like the blade, It is different than the other Wakizashis I have. And, it was affordable when offered. (Affordable for me ) He got lots of neat things, so, I am still grateful he sells items at affordable prices for me. Please know that. Thanks... Alton Quote
