Thank you gentlemen, I also tried to search using "cross", "christianity", "diamond" etc. but no exact match yet. So anyone with good ideas where to dig this information from, please let me know!

Blade itself is probably from 1650-1750 and koshirae is customised to house almost 72 cm nagasa and has a sukashi gunto tsuba (don't know does it have another name for it?) so probably mid to high ranking officer carried it.

Could be for the Totsukawa clan?

菱に十の字 or 菱十印

(But that is such a specific mark - unique to that one clan - my guess is that the "cross in diamond" on your sword is probably just a variant on the "cross" motif mentioned in Joe's post above).

And an additional question to the helpful audience, with my poor knowledge of kanji and the strokes, anyone have possible matches for these smudgy ones on the tsuka?
